I removed the crisper drawer and then removed the two screws holding the broken slide rail. Replaced the slide rail and reinstalled the screws. Very easy to remove/install and the crisper drawer opens and closes perfectly.
The right drawer slide rail breaks in several places, for the 2nd time
1) The large drawer is first removed from the guide that remained on the side wall.
2) Removal of the light shield from the rear of the glass shelf to facilitate glass shelf removal by lifting the rear edge of the glass and remove it.
3) Unscrew two phillips head screws holding the remaining pieces of the plastic guide to the interior side panel of the fridge.
4) Examine the replacement guide and insure that the nylon guide and stop parts are clicked into place. If unsure, look at the guide on the other side to ensure that both are present and completely seated before installation of the replacement guide. (These usually fall out of the guide during shipping and should be in the bag with the guide!)
5) Once the guide is outfitted with the nylon guides, secure the new guide with the two phillips screws and DO NOT over tighten, remember you are dealing with plastic guide and steel screws going into a steel cabinet.
6) Re-install the glass shelf, followed by the light shield and finally the large drawer which should slide out smoothly to the stop and back closed without any drag.
7) A successful installation usually includes giving the drawer and glass shelf a good cleaning that probably could be done to the entire fridge side of the unit.
The side rails broke off the bottom two shelves, maybe because the drawer was full of apples.
I removed the shelves & drawers, then unscrewed the side rails (2 screws in each one). After screwing in the new rails (I had saved the screws from the old parts -the new rails did not come with screws), I only had to place the drawer & shelf back in the fridge and the job was done. It took maybe 5 minutes to replace. I ordered the parts late morning on day one, day two the UPS man was at my door while I was eating breakfast! Less than 24 hrs. from order to delivery!
I would recommend removing the dor first as I had to do this after fighting with the drawer to get it out. There is a cap on the hinge that has one screw, then two nuts and the door is off. From there the drawer rails are easily replaced.
I removed the old broken part and replaced with the new part. Simple as pie, my husband was so happy and impressed I had it done by the time he got home from work!!!!
I removed the two screws on each rail and replaced the broke rails with the new ones. I can't beleve I put it off for a year. It took less then 15 min. encluding the time it took to order the parts.
broken side rail - vegetable drawer would not open and close
I removed the drawer and broken piece, then I screwed in the two screws to put the new piece in place. I then had trouble putting the shelf back in place due to the piece being a little bent. I loosened the front screw and was able to manuver the shelf in place with a little force. The new bracket works great.
1st I unscrewed the side rails after I removed the drawer. I saved the screws and both rails until I received the new ones. There were 2 screws in each side. 2nd I looked online at the parts select web page. The exploded diagrams were extreemly helpful. Like most people my appliance book does not have this feature. I ordered the 2 rails for the drawer on Sunday morning and the parts were here by Wednesday afternoon..very good service in my opinion. I then proceeded to replace the two side rails with the screws that I saved from dismantling them. I then put the drawer back into the refrigerator and it worked perfectly. This repair was easy and it saved me a $60.00+ dollar service call and a longer wait period to get the repair done! I will continue to use part select.com for all my appliance repair work. Thanks
I had to remove the food off the shelves, then i had to had to remove the shelves. I then took the refrigerator door off. I then removed the bins and removed the broken drawer rails. I then cleaned the area where the bins were. I then installed the new rails and put back the bins. I then reinstalled the refrigerator door and all the shelves. Last was putting all the food back in. Everything went very well.
