Fist the lat broke, in an attempt to repair the latch three(3) 0f the plastic parts for the screws cracked.
The reason this story is important is the purchase of the part was more difficult than the repair. Original attempts from another company had the wrong part delivered three times. I was ready to give up until I recieved help from PartsSelect.coms professional sales people. I recieved the correct part the first time. The repair was completed by first securing electrical power to the unit. I was able to isoplate the breaker which feeds this appliance. I removed the 10 Screws from the inner door panel to gain access to the latch and Control Panel. Using two(2) small blocks of wood I was able to prop the innner door and latch assembly up away from my work. I then removed the two screws which hold the control board to the panel and disconnected the ribbon cable attached to the control planel from the control board by pulling straight out on the cable. I was then able to remove the broken control panel and replace it with the new one. The control panel was held in place by four (4) screws. CAUTION: Do not overtighten screws going into the plastic control panel it will crack. Reassmbly was accomplished in the reverse order with the following steps modified. To reconnect the ribbon cable to the control board it was easier if I removed the one screw holding the Top Housing board from the Control board. I was able to reinsert the ribbon cable by pushing the cable straight into the connector. I then reconnected the the Top housing board to the control board. The other step that required care was insuring the latch assembly holes lined up correctly and the latch was properly aligned for assembly. The rest was completed in reverse order.
The exterior lift handle had broken on both sides where it rotates and presses against the internal release mechanism. Eleven screws held the door panel together and also the lift handle/latch assembly. The new assembly dropped right into place. But it had microswitches already installed and I wanted to use the old ones since it was very difficult to pull off the wires. To install the old microswitches requires that you hold down each switch button so that the switch will fully clip into place. Next I put all the screws (torx type) back in
The upper arm assembly removes easily by unsnapping a plastic part or two that holds it in place. Once the arm assembly is removed, you simply remove the screw that holds the arm on, replace the arm, and replace the screw. The key thing here is that you need a "star drive". This is a screw driver or bit that has a star shaped end. I don't know what size it is.
First I turned the power off at the elecrical panel. (there are live exposed parts on the inside of the door if you don't turn the power off and they conecet to the handel ) Then I removed the 9 or 10 tork screws that holds the inner part of the door to the outer part of the door. (Screws are on the inside of the door.) When you remove the screws this also losenes the bracet that hold the handle assmbley disconect the wires then put in the new one. the wires are a little hard to disconect. but that is about the worst of it . This part comes with every thing and and is cheper then buying it seperat. Sorry about the spelling. hope this helps
Taking the upper and middle dish racks out, I reached in and pulled out the old parts, then popped the new ones on. All of the ususal tips for our problem weren't cutting it, so we finally figured the seals at the back of the dishwasher were not effective in keeping the appropriate amount of water pressure in the spray arms. The rubbery seals had been degraded by harsh detergents. We ordered the new seals from your company after a phone call to verify we were choosing the correct parts and easily put them in place. Now our dishwasher does what it was designed to do! And less than $40.00 including shipping! We did not need a new dishwasher.
I had to remove the the old retainer from the old wash arm ,install it on the new arm by snapping it on then I snapped the arm with the retainer up top of dishwasher.
Dirty dishes especially the top rack, but all were poorly cleaned.
In the back of the dishwasher there are two docking stations for the racks to go into for the water to flow to the rack spinners. These stations have rubber gaskets and flaps in the back that totally wear out. Where our problem was mostly the top rack at first I just replaced the top one and the dishes got cleaner but not perfect. So then I ordered the second one and replaced that one too, now the dishes are perfectly clean all the time!! I would suggest replacing both at the sam time. Just pull off the old part and snap the new part into place. No tools needed. Have to remove the top rack to replace that one. The bottom one could be replaced with the rack pulled out. Thank goodness for Parts select!! This has been the worst dishwasher ever and I have replaced so many parts throught Parts Select. My $189 dishwasher I had before this high end dishwasher was much better-- I know why Maytag got bought out--poor quality!
I'm telling this story for my husband who is a pretty handy guy--I watched him do the repair. I had had someone out to look at the dishwasher and they said it would be $284 to fix this one little thing because you couldn't buy the one little part separately, you had to buy a whole new motor. Since the dishwasher is old, it didn't make sense to invest this much in it--might as well buy a new one for that kind of money. My husband did some looking around and found the part on your site and installed it himself. So the cost was under $40. The dishwasher is now working better than it had been for a while.
broken wash impeller-washer did not drain properly
I took out the racks and disassembled the bottom assembly until I got to the impeller. Just replaced the part and reassembled. I used only a star shaped driver on all tightened pieces. It was very easy to do and I did not even need any advice/help from the hubby! Saved a whole lot of time and money doing this small repair myself. Thanks for fast service. I ordered part online Thur. late afternoon, and it arrived Friday.
First of all, Partselect is definately has the cheapest price and quickest processing and shipping that I found. No im not getting paid for this. Anyway, Be sure to kill all power. Pulled the inside cover off, carefully not pulling wires apart. The handle assembly fell to pieces. There are two wire harnesses (minor current)that you need to disconnect and reconnect to new switches. Align mounting holes and insert screws. Replace inside panel and screw tightly and fix is complete.
Removed inside door panel; diagnosed problem / part. 5 min. Found PartSelect; ordered part. Part came as expected; installed part / door panel; 10 min. Dishwaher woring as expected!
I will say I am a Master Plumber so mech. things are easier for me; but this was a simple repair. I am also wary of part suppliers off of the internet; but this came as advertised.
What a simple inexpensive repair. If you have trouble pulling off the electrical conections try inserting a screwdriver to get some leverage. Do not be too forcefull or you may break the connection. This project took a total of 10 minutes tops.
Open the door. Pull out the gasket. Clean the channel where the gasket is going. Find the middle of the gasket and pushed it in the channel. Done! I followed the instruction on the package that it came in.
