Agitator upper portion would not spin.
It was fairly easy to remove the upper portion of the agitator. It takes a little force to pull off the whole upper portion once you have removed the retaining bolt. I personally found it easier to put the new cam assembly in while holding the whole unit upside down.
The cam kit itself did not fit. However, the dog ears could be swapped out. It's cheaper to buy the set separately, they're fairly universal. Part number: PS388034
My 11 year old daughter broke the door clasp to the dryer by repeatedly slamming it trying to get it to close. I told her to go down stairs write down the make model and serial number and come back up and find a place to buy it online. I left with instructions not to use the computer for anything else until the part was found. Less then 15 minutes later I came back because I heard giggling. She was chatting but had found an exploded view of the door and the part. She was very pleased with herself! We bought it and it arrived a few days later. I saw the empty box. She had opened it and taken it down and installed it herself. A good lesson, for her and me
Well tried to find this simple part around Columbus and even maytag website no luck.Parts select had it to go and arrived earlier than expected.Fixed it less than 5 minutes works great.taken longer to put the light bulb back in,Really like the accuracy and quick response from parts select. If I had called a service tech probably would have cost $50.00 or more for a part that cost a little over $3.00 and saved this site in case I need to order other parts.Thank you
could not get the bottom agitator to release, so finally just left it in place, first bolt I had did not fit right so ordered one directly from your store also had to wait dor my tools to get in
I am an old woman who is disabled and without any tools or knowledge, but sheer stubbornness and will power, I waited for my tools and other parts to come in, in the mean time I fixed my young neighbors whirlpool washer, well We took top off the nut I had already pre assembled her cam so set it in place of old one put bolt back in place and the top of agitator she says works perfectly now, my parts came in I had nothing to remove as my handicap daughter had already thrown away all the loose parts, I threw away old top agitator, assembled cam and put in place still did not feel tight enough so added seal from other nut!! it worked tight enough, put the inner part back in with new part and soap put the top back on and now works good as new, was disappointed could not put bottom agitator in place, just not strong enough lol well this was my story
Open lid, remove softener cover on agitator[grip and pull-up gently] [inside] grip and pull-up on softener dispenser cap with seal, you see the bolt, fit a 7/16 or a 11mm socket on your extension and remove the bolt, reach in and lift unit out gently, place on workbench/area or floor and gently but firmly remove top portion then with thump and index finger push out on the two small tabs[or one at a time]to reliese the agitator.[broken dogs inside, remove and clean]a small rubber "O"-ring is below, replace with a little silicone grease to keep in place and on the contact surface and metal spline for the agitator.place all four dogs in the kit[hold up-side down{dogs will not fall out}sliding top portion over and lock in the two tabs.you are now ready to reassemble.
Agitator would not work unless pressure was applied on top of the agitator.
Removed water softner holder. Pulled plastic seal out from agitator by hand. Removed bold that holds agitator to drive shaft. Pulled out part that holds dogs. Replaced dogs and reversed repair order.
I used a screwdriver to pry out the broken door latch and inserted the new one in the same slot. Perfect fit. The picture of the part in the order page was a big help to identify the correct part.
Easy Repair!! Remove the Fabric Sofetener dispenser from the top of the agitator. Beneath that, remove the plastic cover over the cam assembly. Use an 11mm socket to remove the agitator. After removal, pull it apart to reveal the cam. simply replace the dogs and reverse the process to reassemble. NOTE: YOU MAY NEED A LONG SOCKET EXTENSION TO GET DOWN INTO THE 11mm BOLT.
