DENISE from GERMANTOWN, TN
bottom heating element in oven disintegrated
First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires. I threw away the old pieces.

Then I connected the two wires on the new element. I pushed the wires back in the insulation in the wall of the cabinet. Then I inserted the two screws and tightened them in.

SUPER EASY!!!!!

This $40 part saved me $1500 on a new double wall oven.

This is a 2800 watt, 240-volt Whirlpool oven bake element that is sourced directly from the original manufacturer for stoves, ovens, cooktops, or range ovens. This part should be replaced if the element is not heating, heating unevenly, or is too hot. It has a terminal distance of 16 inches with a terminal depth of 3 inches. Disconnect power to the oven before replacing the bake element. Unscrew the Phillips screws directly above the element brackets to remove the existing element, and remove the wire harness without losing the wires. It is recommended to inspect the wire terminals to ensure they are not arced or burnt while the element is removed.

This bake element for your oven, range, or stove provides heat from the bottom of the appliance to cook or bake your food items. You may need to replace this part if your oven is not heating properly. This bake element is approximately 22 inches wide. Disconnect power to your appliance before completing the repair because you will be working near electrical wiring harnesses. The wiring harnesses feature slip-on terminals for easy installation. Be sure to hold the wiring harness forward so they do not fall behind the panel, as they are difficult to retrieve. This is an authentic OEM bake element.

Old element was worn out (burst in line)
First, I cut the power to the stove to be sure no electrical current could be conducted. Next, I removed the two screws that hold the heating element to the back of the stove. Then, I removed the oven racks and slowly slid the heating element out until I could see the wires that attached to it. Because the element has the female end of the wire, I pulled the male ends out of both the left and right side of the element.. This releases the old element and I discarded it. Next, I took the new element, slide the male ends into the new female ends that protruded from both the right and left side of the element. I crimped these slightly with my pliers to make sure that they would stay secure when I pushed the element into place. With the new element securely attached, I slowly slid the element into place, this forces the exposed wires to be retracted out of sight and in the insulated part of the oven. I then took the two screws that I had to removed in the beginning, and used them to fasten this new heating element to the back of the oven. Finally, I turned the power back on and the element worked fine. Read more...

bake element not working
Our oven is at least 30 years old and the parts are not even available through the manufacture anymore. A new stove would cost well over $1000.00. Jen airr is the only down draft stove available. So the repair was much more affordable that the alturnative. So thank you to part select for providing this service. The repair was simple. This is coming from a 36 year old female who has been around electrical work, but never done any myself. My husband was out of town and I felt I could do the job. I first made sure I had another adult present. I turned off the power to the oven. I then removed the visible screws to the element plate (2 on top and 1 in lower middle). I then pulled the element out enough to get behind the plate and feel the screws that were connecting the wires to the element/ground. Again 3 total. The oven space is very small and difficult to work in. I had to do a lot by feel. Once the old element was free I just exchanged it for the new one and reversed the process, making sure all the wires were tight. I then turned the power back on. Turned the oven on, it smoked lightly for a moment and turned red hot. Over all it was extreemly simple. Read more...

Broiler would not heat
replaced broiler element - still would not heat.
Called repairman and the control panel is out and will cost around 200.00 to replace. To replace the element, my son helped as my arms weren't long enough. Removed two screws at back and two screws on front of broiler brace. Pulled out and removed wires and hooked them to the new element. Had to turn off circuit breaker. Pushed element back into the holes and replaced screws.
In this instance, it would have been cheaper had I just called the repairman first. However, I have an extra broiler element in case it goes out again.
