Washing machine was not agitating...
Easily found the Agitator Repair Kit online for a very reasonable price. Swapped out the bad worn down parts for the new ones and presto; cleaner clothes. Researching the right model number was a task, but when the parts showed up and were identical I knew it would be easy. Less than 30 minutes to install with minimal tools. And it was cheap. Even if I called my home warranty co. to come out it would still be a minimal $55 service charge. Well worth it, very pleased, would use PartSelect again.
The upper agitator, or auger, had completely stopped spinning
The most difficult aspect of the repair was separating the upper and lower agitator, as over the years the minerals in the water had stuck them together. I used a rubber mallet and gave the auger a few sharp blows, and the two main pieces separated. The greatest amount of time involved was the process of meticulously cleaning all the parts that were to be reused in the repair as there was a lot of old grease, dirt and mineral build up coating everything. The old cam dogs were completely gone, they had disintegrated over 20 years of use. I simply dropped the four new dogs in their cut outs on the cam agitator. and snapped on the bearing collar, which is really just a plastic retaining ring that prevents the dogs from falling out when you turn the cam agitator upside down and push it into position to connect the two agitator sections. The new thrust washer easily set in place on the lower agitator, and bolting the assembly back onto the washer shaft was a snap with a 10 inch socket extension. Washer works perfectly now, it spins better than the average political pundit.
Pulled the agitator unit from the washer, popped the top, pulled damaged part and replaced. Easy job!! Great video installation instructions! Thank you.
Im a 58 year old single woman. Swap out of pump motor was so easy. Took less than 15 min. Ordered the part on Tuesday it came the next day. I installed it and did 4 loads of laundry. Great company.
I ordered a whole agitator repair kit. Had a few problems getting everything to line up right. Finally figured out what I needed to do and everything worked like it should.
Took off water softener from top of agitator. Pulled up and removed cap with O-ring that covered bolt that held agitator in place.then pulled briskly up on entire agitator from the bottom to remove agitator from machine. After that I put my feet on bottom of agitator and then pulled up on top part to separate the two pieces. After that just follow instruction sheets for parts replacement and then reverse steps to reassemble.
I ordered the part and watched the installation video. It would have helped if I had watched the video all the way through at least once. Instead I paused and restarted it as I did the repair. As a result I had a hard time putting the agitator back together. Otherwise it was a fairly easy repair and my 20-year-old washer works great again!
Couldn't do the repair due to receiving incorrect parts used what I could from kit to replace parts. The repair kit said it would work on my machine but did not. Now I will have to purchase a complete aigator to fix hopefully the issue.
Removed top agitator bolt lifted agitator out and replaced ring and geared dogs. replaced Agitator top swirl vanes. It would have been nice if the kit included agitator grease and a new bolt and washer.
