Keep searches simple. Use keywords, e.g. "leaking", "pump", "broken" or "fit".
Broken tumbler baffle
Found out you shouldn't try to dry heavy hiking shoes in a dryer....it tends to break off plastic baffle.
The repair directions on PartSelct.com made this repair a piece of cake. Just removed screws holding door and front of dryer. With these removed it was a simple matter to detach top and get access to internal components. Two hex screws held baffle in place. Total repair took about 15 minutes, but while I was in there I cleaned out all the dust from inside of the dryer and heater unit. I also reversed door to make it easier to transfer clothes from washer. The instructions, detailed drawings and the quality of the part were all excellent. They had replacement to me in 1 day. Will definitely use PartSelect again.
After taking apart the machine (applianceaid.com has slideshows for most major appliances - very comforting and reassuring - highly recommended), I used a shop-vac to clean up all lint and dirt. After getting the retainer ring off the drum roller shaft (snap ring pliers highly recommended), I replaced the drum roller along with the glides which were completely worn through (rivet gun required). I reassembled the dryer to find that the drum wouldn't turn, so I placed another order for the other drum roller and replaced the belt too. Back in business.
I took the front door off, then i took the the front facing off so i could see in where the idler pulley was. Then I took a couple of screws out so i could get the tumbler out so i could put the belt back on track. I replaced the pulley and then started putting everything back together and now the dryer works like a brand new one. I loved buying parts from here. Cause you are showed how to replace the parts you are wanting to replace. I was very satisfied with everything.
Firts I had to take all the front parts off using a screwdriver and nutdriver then I loossen the belt to get the drum out then I had to use snapping ring pliers to remove the rollers and put the new ones in I cleaned the inside of the dryer then I put everything back in place. After all that I tested it and it worked really good it took me about an hour to do all that
Removed the door then removed front panel then removed 8 screws that held the drum in. At this point reached in and removed the snap ring on the wheels and replaced the washers and wheels. Then reassembled it.
Went on line and got a diagram of the dryer. Removed four screws around the door. Removed the door and then the front cover. The toughest part was removing the drum. Once I got that out of the way replacing the rollers was easy. Re installed the drum. The belt was a little tricky but worked. Then replaced the front of the dryer and the door. The dryer works fine now and no more noise. Pretty easy.
My son did the repair work. He took off the door and then carefully unhooked the belt and removed the drum. Replacement on the drum roller kit went smooth, and he then oiled the idler pulley while he was in there. I now have a "quiet dryer" once again!!! Had orderd the wrong part to begin with, but was very easy to return, receive my credit and get the "right" replacement part. Great Service!!!!
The dryer was making a horrendeous screaching sound
It was easier than I thought. Unplugger the dryer, took the door off, front panel and inside front panel. I wiggled the drum out and vacuumed up all the lint. All I really needed to replace was the belt and idler wheel but replaced the 2 support rollers since I had gotten new ones. The belt had a twist in it and was rubbing and causing the idler to rub against its bracket, thus wearing them both out prematurely. I slapped it all back together and it never ran better. Thanks for the inexpensive parts and quick delivery. You guys are great!
very loud squeaking/screeching when the dryer runs
repairmen said to buy a new dryer! or replace the motor! DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!
It was the spring washer that was rubbing against the metal that was causing the very loud noise. The fiber washer that is used on the shaft on both sides of the roller had worn though and allowed the metal-metal contact. The fiber washer wore out! The fiber washers are very cheap!!!! in comparison to a motor or new dryer!
The drum rollers that support the rotating drum eventually wear out the fiber washer. UNPLUG THE DRYER, DISCONNECT THE VENT Remove the two screws on the lower front of the dryer panel, probably after you have tilted the unit backward. Remove the front panel by tilting out the bottom as there are two clips at the top. AFTER DOCUMENTING the CONNECTIONS - Disconnect the wires from the switch which is mounted on the front panel. Carefully put the dryer on its back - be careful of the dryer vent to avoid damaging your floor or dryer vent! Carefully pull the dryer drum up out of the dryer - as this is done the belt which moves the drum will fall away from the drum. I suggest before you remove the drum to eyeball the way the belt is tensioned and wrapped around the motor driveshaft, guard and tensioner. This will be the most difficult part of reassembling the machine. Some visual understand, maybe even pictures will help you later to get it installed correctly back into proper position... and it is NOT intuitive! Once the drum is removed, the rollers are accessible. Rotate each and find the squeaker! I recommend you replace the fiber washer on both, even though only one may be squeaking at this point (the other will be close to being worn out as well!). I will not document the replacement of these parts as the assembly seems well documented elsewhere. I suggest you remain using the spring washer if there - as the after factory replacements do not seem to provide spring washers. I would also suggest replacing the dryer drum belt, it is worn, after this many years, and putting in a new one will keep the dryer running for many more years. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER - USE IT
Removed door, then brackets holding top panel to side exposed after removing door. Lifted top panel to expose dryer chamber. Rotated chamber to access outside screws holding broken baffle. Removed and replaced baffle. Closed top lid, reattached to side. Replaced door. When reattaching top lid, do not tighten H/W just yet. You'll have to maneuver the hooks into place for the door to reattach. Then tighten when in place.
If you have the option to take a part the dryer before ordering the parts to track down the squeaking part, do so. In my case a squeaking part is still usable. Unfortunately the squeaking part was not the rollers or the belt depicted as a high percentage of the squeaking problems as noted on the webpage.My was the Idler Pulley. INSTALLATION of idler pulley, I started by watching the youtube videos, took pictures during the removal of the parts to assist in the installation. removed front panels parts, moved drum forward off the rollers, reached in and pulled the idler pulley to the left in order to remove belt. pulled the drum out. And with a flat head screw driver popped off the e clip (bought extra e clip just in case i lost it) reinstalled everything, BUT take note of the Idler pulley, it has one side bigger than the other BUT in the CLOSE UP VIDEO THE GENTLEMAN INSTALLS IT BACKWARDS. Not sure if this has a major effect on the pulley, but wanted to give it a heads up (your pictures will help you with this to keep track of how it should look at the end).
Did an internet search for parts for my older Maytag dryer. Landed on PartSelect and man I am glad I did! Entered my model number and boom! Complete schematics on the dryer, with part numbers. Also have diagnostic questions to point you in the right direction. Figured out what parts I needed, ordered via phone. Fantastic customer service. PartSelect also has excellent installation videos you can watch to assist. Took me a little over an hour to open up the dryer, replace the drum rollers, drum belt, idler roller and both front and rear felt seals. Buttoned dryer back up, hit the run switch and it purs like brand new. I cannot recommend PartSelect to highly. Great company, great customer service, quick shipping.
