Dishwasher would not power up
This dishwasher started to not want to start about 1 year ago but on several attempts to start the dishwasher it would power up or start. On Christmas Eve 2021 I did a load of dishes and from that point on the dishwasher would not power up. Got on line and did some troubleshooting and felt the Control Panel was the problem. Ordered the replacement part from this website, the part arrived around January 1, 2022. Installed the new Control Panel yesterday and my dishwasher is now working great again. Thank you for the ability or order and fix my dishwasher
Dishwasher was not heating up when running and the heated dry was not working either
The dishwasher was not heating anymore. I suspected it was the float/flood switch, so I got that ordered. I went ahead and ordered the element also and I'm glad I did! Even though the element was good, when I tested it I loosened the nut holding the element in. When I retightened it there was NO WAY for me to get it watertight again and it kept dripping out the bottom. Mine was made in 2019, and the gaskets on the element that came with it were a terrible design - the metal flange on the element was about as big as the hole in the middle of the gasket so water just leaked between the gasket "donut" hole and the element with no way to seal. The element I bought for this repair just in case had a totally redesigned gasket that sealed right up and didn't have the same design issue. So beware, if you are fiddling with the element in your process, be sure the gasket will reseal - or just have an extra new element in case it is the old (bad) design.
The flood switch was easy to find (with dishwasher on its back) in a white housing under the black circular sump.
Getting the actual switch out of that housing took some doing. I ended up using 4 small kebab sticks - toothpicks might work better- all 4 tabs have to be pulled out at the same time.
So I ended up changing out both the element (which was good but started leaking) and the float switch.
IMPORTANT!!! Before you put the dishwasher back in, you probably need to reset the thermal cutoff (TCO) on the back of the dishwasher. Follow the wire up from the element and it is the first thing it goes to. There should be a small (3mm) black button that has popped out. Press that back in. With your repair (float switch or element) it should start heating again - at least mine did.
Dishwasher would not start Would run if you added 2 qt. water manually
Unplugged power. Shut off water supply. Remove the kick panel. Unscrewed dishwasher from under cabinet and side screws. lower feet to reduce tension. As you slide the dishwasher out, be sure all lines (Drain, water supply, electric are free to move with dishwasher. I was able to hold the dishwasher at an angle to easily get to the valve. After removing the the valve, i screwed the new valve back into place. I removed the Line between the valve and Dishwasher. Putting the line on the new valve. I removed the water supply line from the old valve and installed it on the new valve. Placed the dishwater back in place and screed it back in. I ran the cycles. everything works! I replace the kickpaner a couple of hours later. Check to make sure there were now leaks.
1. Turned off circuit breaker 2. Pulled out dishwasher 3. Disconnected switch and popped out switch 3. Popped in new switch and connected 4. Pushed dishwasher back into place 5. Turned on circuit breaker 6. Turned on dishwasher and it worked
This is a replacement that is straightforward but a bit mechanical. For an experienced engineer it was no problem but for the common household this is a repair best left to the pros. Fixed the issue no problem and the dishwasher is working perfectly now.
Replaced old gasket with new one. More difficult than expected, because new gasket was much stiffer than old one. Also, the yellow centering spot on gasket (to line up with top latch) was nearly impossible to see. Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem for me, so money was wasted. Bought new dishwasher.
There was no repair -- it was a simple snap-in replacement of lower spray arm assembly. The shaft holding the lower spray arm in place is plastic so of course it broke when a utensil blocked the arm from spinning.
I appreciate the Parts Select company for enabling me to purchase a replacement part though that allows me to keep my old dishwasher working.
Very straight forward. After removing the power source the dishwasher was pulled forward enough to access the the door hinge springs. Then the door could be removed and the inner skin separated to access the the dispenser mounting screws.
Looked up the replacement part on YouTube, watched a video and followed the instructions. Part ordered was the correct part and the video showed how to access for replacing. Watched a different video for hooking up the disconnected springs that allow the door to lower and close smoothly. Whole process for repairs was less than 30 minutes.
Door would pop open after starting dishwasher numerous times before latching would catch.
Removed two latch screws and one electrical connection, Removed two screws that hold D/W to countertop, pulled D/W out enough to remove the old latch, install new latch, push D/W back into place, rescrew to counter top and rescrew the two latch screws. This problem happened since new, had repairmen twice and they did nothing but move the dishwasher stating it needed alignment, never mentioned this easy repair....
took off 2 sheet metal on the bottom, lowered the dish washer, pulled it out enought to unscrew 2 screws, unplugged the old part plugged in the new, put it back together. Works like a champ.
Followed video instructions step by step. I was fortunate i had enough slack in water, electric and discharge lines to avoid disconnecting.
Two wrinkles 1. wire clips on my door had to be pulled/pried loose from door and there were two not one
2. could not slide dishwasher out after lowering adjusters and figured out it was the mounting tabs bumpimng the granite countertop, thus the use of putty knives to slide the dishwasher out.
Not having to screw with the hose clamps is the advantage here! Disconnect electric connection at motor. Slightly bend tabs that hold the pump to motor, twist motor from volute. Do this on old pump first to get a feel for how easy the tabs can be broken Do same on the replacement pump, put new motor on, watch alignment can be a bit tricky.
Dishes not drying and no heat other than hot tap water
Pulled dishwasher out switch is on very bottom of pump housing, turned dishwasher on its back, took out 1/4" bolt holding on bottom of switch frame, took two very small screwdrivers and small picks to hold open switch clips, while switch was removed checked float for frew movement, put in new switch, removed screw drivers and picks checked to see all locked on new switch in position, replaced bottom plate and bolt, checked burner reset all good now dishwasher heats and drys!
