old switch left freezer bulb always-on
Unplug appliance. Socket wrench to unscrew two screws. Module drops down. disconnected two press-on wires by prying off with screwdriver. Removed old switch. Press-fit new switch. Reconnected two wires (color coded). Screwed module back in place. Plug in appliance.
The center support rail (plastic) for the crisper bins broke at the front end support plate. No obvious way to fix it.
I easily identified the needed part from the diagram on the PartSelect.com site and ordered it. It arrived within three business days (standard shipping). It simply popped into place in the respective slots in the bin frame--no tools needed. The whole process cost less than $11.00 with more than half of the cost going for shipping.
removed the 2 screws that held the panel in place, had to reach up and push on locking tabs to lower trhe front of the panel. was able to then push on the locking tab of the switch to release it. removed the wires, replaced them onto the new switch, and snapped the switch into place. the rest was reverse of the uninstall process.
Part was easy to order, delivered quickly, installation very easy. Just unplug the unit, pop out the old swich using a screwdriver, disconnect and reconnect leads and pop switch back in. Definitely recommend that you can do it too.
A very cold and brittle switch in a 17 year old fridge. Used screwdrivers to pry out with some resistance Had to cut the molded plug in half and split wires, because replacement contacts were farther apart than the original. End result, works great.
My owners manual said to unplug fridge from elec outlet, use a kitchen knife to gently pry off the switch plate (manual had a pictoral example), unclip the two wire, replace with on new switch and replace the switch. Close door and plug back in. Open door to check that the lite works. Walla! It did. Thanks!
The rail crisper has tabs at either end to hold it in place with the crisper drawer brackets. One of the tabs broke and the crisper drawers could not slide in and out properly.
The leftover broken piece of the rail was removed from the crisper shelf supporting brackets and the new replacement installed in place using the front and rear tabs inserted into the crisper support bracket. Both crisper drawers now slide in and out properly.
I removed the drawers, glass shelf and the old frame. I had to remove several parts from the old frame and reinstall on the new one. It took a couple of minutes to figure out how to remove one part by prying with a small screwdriver. Otherwise, everything was straightforward.
Used screw driver to pop out old switch. Used pliers to hold wire connection from fall back into slot on fridge. Inserted new swith into plug and pressed new switch back in place.
