KitchenAid Blender Coupling

This drive coupling for your blender has reverse threads, and is used to spin the blender blades. The coupling connects the blender jar to the base. To replace this part, use a flat blade screwdriver to pry the coupling off, wipe the threads off with a dry cloth, and screw the new coupling on counter-clockwise. Make sure the blender is unplugged before beginning this repair.

Coupling teeth gone.
First I inserted a small diameter rod in the motor fins to keep the motor from turning. Then I simply loosened the coupling. (Please know this is a left-hand thread). The coupling was not that tight. New coupling only requires a snug hand -tightening. You are are good to go!

Original Blender Jar fell apart
I didn't realize there was a spoon in the blender and it made a total racket as the blades and housing were falling apart. The blender jar, blades and housing are all one piece so my less than 2 month old blender was completely trashed. Rather than spend $100 on a new blender, I spent $24 on a new jar... popped it on the blender in place of the old one and it's better than new! And I'm much more careful using it!

teeth worn out from high speed ice crush
Put masking tape around the coupling and put the coupling in a vise upside down. took the bottom apart and unscrewed the main shaft screw. ITS LEFT HAND THREAD!!! Screw on new coupling and put the bottom back on.The masking tape is just to protect the finish.
