Old Valve was leaking
First of all I got the part in less than 24 hours without paying any extra shipping, great service. The part was easy to install, removed 2 screws and 2 plastic water lines, disconenected water line from the sink (turn off water first) and put in new part took less than 30 minutes and is working perfectly.
Turn off ice maker Slide wire harness shield off connector Disconnected harness Loosened 2 wall screws Remove old ice maker Installed new one reversing process
removed water tray, used a razor blade to brake the seal from the face plate and the fridge, The hardest part was the three screws holding the dispenser face place on where rusted over. I wound up drilling them out. Once the screws removed, a slight lift, the face plate comes right off. I unplugged the cable, and set it aside. Now remove the next three screws, and the dispenser falls forward, (as far as the water line allows) undo the screws leaving the one emplace to hold the ice lever. push up twist. The hard part is getting the new one up and in. just takes a little patients.
take the ice bin out of freezer. there are 2- 1/4" screws. these screws only need to be loosened a few turns. the ice maker can be slightly lifted up and will come off the screws. unhook the wire harness. take the "L" bracket off the old ice maker and put on the new one. set the new ice maker in. hook up the wire harness. put the new ice maker over the screws, tuck the wires out of the way and pull down into place. tighten the screws.
Ice despenser door would not close, frosting up in side, would not despense ice`
Removed outside cover on door despencer, (4 screws) unplug wire, removed unit from refrig and replace rusted thru wire that holds door shut. It was fairly easy. I actually took it apart twice, once for diagnosis and once for repair after the part arrived.
i removed rhe old storage drawer from the refrigator. removed the front face and slid it on to the new drawer i received from Part Select. put the drawer into the refrigator and it fit perfectly. Part Select web site worked perfectly on selecting the right part. the part was delivered in three days. i would recommend this company for your appliance replacement parts and would not hesitate ordering from them in the future.excellant service.
Looked up similar problems and found it to be the defrost timer. All I had to do was remove the plastic portion in the fridge section to get to the old timer. Popped the new one in and put it back together. Works great now. Would have been almost $150 to have a repair company come out and fix it.
The gaskets on the freezer & refig.door were cracked
Unscrewed the gaskets from the doors and took off. screwed the screws and put tthe sealant on t he cornors on both doors and that was it. very easy. directions were great.
Downloaded a schematic of the ice container. Disassembled the ice container, keeping track of which different type of screws went where. Followed the schematic to ensure proper sequence of blades and spacers. Manually rotated unit prior to installing into the freezer in case of binding. Finished.
Was really basic, simply slide off the old caps, slide on the new ones, put the shelf back where it goes, push down lightly so as to not snap the new caps, and viola, complete. No more than 2 minutes worth of work. Great part at a great price, shipping was more than the part itself so I bought 2 of each. Only problem I ran into was that I ordered the top shelf caps instead of the bottom the first time, so I had to reorder.
Freezer frosted up, refrigerator compartment heated up
I removed the housing at the top of the refrigerator compartment that contained the reefer light and temperature adjustment knob. This required a small nut-driver. Inside, I found the old defrost control, unplugged it, unscrewed it with a Phillips screwdriver, and replaced it with the replacement part. Then I replaced the housing to its original position.
Removed the housing with the light, 4 hexhead screws. This exposed the defrost timer, removed 2 hexhead screws, electrical connector and reassembled the unit.
The repair was extrememly easy and took about as long as it did to order the pasrt online. Just removed the front drawer handle with a screw driver ,slide it onto the new storage drawer and reinstall. Less than 5 minutes. C.J. Rochester Hills,MI
