Keep searches simple. Use keywords, e.g. "leaking", "pump", "broken" or "fit".
Frost buildup in freezer by the ice maker
Replaced dispenser door flapper by following the do it yourself video in this site. It was really easy. Just be careful when removing the dispenser black bezel. I broke one of the little tabs when taking it off.
Removed tray. Identified rusted parts. Ordered from Parts Select user friendly website. Upon receipt of parts, first took some pictures of assembly before finishing disassembly, disassembled, reassembled, and voila! Works great, and no rust!
On the water dispenser line, the heat from the compressor unit had cracked the feed line, resulting in a leak.
I removed the plate covering the water valve for the ice maker and water dispenser, removed the nut holding the 5/16" tubing to the valve and took off the tubing and nut. I did not need to turn off the water supply or unplug the unit. I removed the kick panel in the bottom front of the refrigerator, replaced the existing plastic fitting with a new push-on fitting, then spliced the tubing coming from the water chiller to the valve where the leak was thus bypassing the broken tubing with new tubing. I reassembled the valve using the original plastic compression nut, replaced the cover and ran the water dispenser while checking for leaks. The water dispanser works great with no leaks.
It took me longer to remove all the shelving than it did to replace the part, at first I had a small short, [a bare wire was open, cut off too much casing,] thought it was faulty, but I cut back on the wire, wire caped it, then taped it with electrical tape, reinstalled, workes just fine now, at temp #6on dial. should have paid " MORE ATTENTION TO STEVE". I would highly recommend [ PARTS SELECT] TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS A PART, IF you pay attention to the video, you will find it not too difficult to repair. Mr. PAUL KLUGH [KLU] THANK you PARTS SELECT. Original cam was worn out and the hinge pin broke.
After reviewing what was wrong, I referred to the parts list and ordered what was needed. I did see a short video on my I Pad and saw that we could fix this ourselves. Ordered the parts. The install was ready easy after finding out what had to be replaced. Just needed an extra couple of strong hands to replace the door on the new hinge pin and cam assembly. Parts were perfect and the unit is running very well. The unit is 32 years old and still running fine.
Ice maker was leaking and causing the ice to freeze into a block.
People would use the ice maker and just let it grind and eventually the bin and the plastic cup at the end of the auger broke. I replaced the ice maker and once satisfied it worked and did not leak, I took the bucket/auger mechanism apart and replace both the bucket and the ice cup. While the Frig is getting old, it has paneling that matches our cabinets so we are trying to get a few more years out of this. This repair is one I should have done 10 years ago! Thanks Parts Select!
Original part cracked allowing crushing fingers to grab plastic guide jamming it.
Part attaches to metal plate near crushing fingers which attaches to ice holding bin. Remove about 6 screws total on each side of plate. You must disassemble the auger & other parts so you can reassemble it in the proper order. Not many parts but i always take pics to cut down on time. New part is at the other end of the auger and acts as the holde of the auger shaft. Picture a crankshaft with a bearing on each end so the auger rotates between new part and the other end of auger shaft. That's it.
1. Use skewer to press plastic tabs under control panel, 2. Remove control panel and unplug solenoid, 3. Unscrew dispenser assembly and solenoid screws, 4. Press in tabs on lamp and remove assembly - unplug, 5. Replace lamp assembly, 6. Replace solenoid assembly and fasten screws, 7. Replace flapper. 8. Replace other parts in reverse order.
Used butter knife to pry off fastner covers...then removed the two screws attaching handles....installed new handles popped back in the fastener cover strips...DONE...
I watched the instructional video on this website and did everything that it said. There is no more leak when I use the in door water. Was as easy as it looks in the video and I am very happy!
went to the repair site, saw the video and used it to replace the parts. didnt have the hinge assembly which made the flapper stay open and thus caused the icing. recently ordered a replacement and i hope that this will cause the flapper to seat properly.
