Ice was discolored due to rust on auger
Removed the old assembly from the refrigerator. Used a screwdriver to remove the four screws attaching the old assembly to the plastic front plates. Opened the box holding the new part (which had arrived very promptly at our doorstep), removed it and attached it very easily to the plastic front plates using the same four screws. Placed the new assembly in the refrigerator and started making new ice. It was EASY!! We had read what others had said about this repair and knew it would be something we could do. Your website is very user friendly and helpful.

Light would no longer turn on
I watched the video online, followed the instructions and within minutes had the part installed. The frig light was working once again! I will say the original switch was very snug and I had to do some very minor scraping of the plastic to get the new part to slide in.

Light out
Turned off the breaker to the fridge because I couldn't reach the power plug to unplug it . Use small flat head screwdriver to pop out the piece, disconnected the rubber prong connectors, inserted the new piece into the rubber prongs snapped it back into place. Flipped the breaker back on and prayed it worked. It did and I saved myself $120 service call.

Door would swing open too far and hit cabinets
The stop was bent and no longer stopped the door. However, by being bent, it interfered with removing one of the two hex head screws that held the stop in place. After taking pliers to break the bent portion off, the screws were easily removed with an 8 mm hex head ratchet wrench. Once the damaged (bent) stop was removed, the replacement was simple.

Original gasket was cracked
The gasket I received was stated to supposedly fit my refrigerator, and the box even had printed on it that the gasket was magnetic. However, after going through the difficult process of removing the old one and installing the gasket that was sent me, I discovered that the new gasket WAS NOT MAGNETIC, and would not keep the freezer door closed. I repaired the cracked area on the old gasket and reinstalled it on my refrigerator. When I called Part Select to return the defective part, I was given every excuse in the book, including that the gaskets aren't made with magnets any more, even though the box stated it WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MAGNETIC......just like I was supposed to GET RETURN INFORMATION BY EMAIL that I have never gotten, and my emails are ignored as far as returning it. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN....

Water line was leaking
The internal water line was leaking. I could not find any repair parts for my refrigerator but the GE 5/16 water line was the same size. I purchased 6' of tubing and two unions. Make sure the clean and square. If possible, make the cuts in a spot where you can use the pliers and wrench to tighten the union. I cut approximately 2' out of the existing line and replaced it with the same length of new line using the 2 unions, one on each end. Took about 5 minutes.

Ice maker crushed all ice and would not make cubes. Pushing the switch and changing to cubes did not work.
Removed old ice bucket with auger. Unscrewed front plates that form the front of the ice bucket. Replaced the front plates on the new part (ice bucket and auger). Replaced new assemblage. It took about 20 minutes. Had to empty ice out and put in a temporary cooler for storage. Bigger problem than the repair was diagnosing what was wrong. Pushed disagnose button and it said ice maker was working normallly. Careful examination of the ice bucket removed from refrigerator showed spring out of place on long metal rod that protrudes from the back of the ice bucket and fits into a square hole in back of refrigerator. Examined other end of rod that engages with plastic parts that run the ice auger and ice crusher mechanism. A piece must have broken off. That was the problem. Refrigerator ice maker now works fine as originally designed. Push crudh the ice crusher engages and you get crused ice. Push cubes and the icemaker crusher slides out of the way and you get cubes.

frost/ice buildup in icemaker chute in the freezer door
The only difficult part was not knowing which parts had to be removed to gain access to the flapper to replace it. It appeared as if the frame around the control panel would have to be removed as well as the door handle; we tried but were not able to remove the frame. It turned out that the panel just popped out with the frame in place. Once we had access to the flapper, it was easy to replace it. The repair fixed the problem.

Blade on auger became stripped
Ordered at PartSelect and received the auger and blade within days. Printed the parts diagram and proceeded to take the auger apart the time it took would have been much less but I seized the opportunity to do a deep cleaning of the old parts before replacing them....The part diagram was the key to simplicity and the fast shipping was awesome. Thanks I'll be back....
