Keep searches simple. Use keywords, e.g. "leaking", "pump", "broken" or "fit".
door was uneven and wouldn't close tight
removed the door, installed the cam riser, and reattached the door. It took longer to remove the contents in the door than it did to install the cam riser.
Thought I would only need one when I looked at the picture of the parts. Decided to order two just in case and after taking it apart both were broken. Needed two. Took the top door bracket off and lifted the door off of the bottom bracket. Re-assembled cams, put a little white grease on all moving parts, placed the door into bottom bracket and installed top bracket. Adjusted top bracket to make door line up with edge of refrigerator and all is well.
Door closing cam (made of Plastic) just wore out with age and broke in half
Took the door contents out and put them on the counter, took the door off the hinges by unscrewing the 2 screws on the top of the Fridge and lifting the door off the hinge onthe bottom. Then laid down the Fridge on the kitchen floor and replaced the Door Closing Cam, keeping in mind the order of the 3 shims and other things on the bottom of the door. Simple.
Removed refrigerator door and replaced bottom door pivot with the included mating cam and the door closing cam on the bottom of the door.
I didn't know that there were two mating cams and only ordered the door closing cam which I read online was the problem. It was the number one part on the part select list. The number two part was a kit including the door closing cam and the pivot with mating cam attached. It would have been helpful if there had been some notes that said check condition of both cams before ordering the part. So I have a spare door closing cam and paid an extra $19 including $8 shipping which negated a return.
The repair is easy - getting the right parts the first time is the trick.
Door sliped down. Closing cam was split and broken
Laying on the floor I blocked up the door. Removed old hinge and cam. First I replaced the cam then I inserted the hinge into the cam. Positioned the door to enable me to refasten the hinge to the Refrigerator. Another way is to empty the stuff from the refrigerator door.Then remove the top hinge take off the door and place it on the counter on a blanket so as not to scratch the door. Replace the cam. Place the door back on the wooden blocks.Insert the Hinge into the cam while the door is standing on the wooden blocks. It would be a great help if you had a second person to hold the door so you don't gets bumps on your head. You first need to attach the top honge withe the 2 screws loosly so the door will move. Then screw the bottom hinge to the refrigerator. If you find that the inside of the door is rubbing lossen the top hing and adjust the door until it closed properly. Also by putting the stuff back on the door may cure the rubbing. Good Luck
I did not realize I needed 2 cams to complete repair. Door cam was riveted in. I had to drill out rivet and replace with nut and bolt. Otherwise it went quite sommothly. At first I just replaced the cam on bottom of refridgerator but door was not quite right when closing. Further inspection showed the door had the other half of cam that also needed replacement. Needed 2 orders. Paid for 2 shippings.
My wife and I gave an old, but really good refergerator to our son (a Major in the Army). Upon taking it into his house he had to remove the doors of the refergerator. While he put the doors he lost the "cam" for the door, making if difficult to close (actually had to lift the door up and then close it). I ordered the replacement part, and unless I am mistaken, it arrived the same day. I still cannot figure out how this happened, but it was great!!

Why don't they just tell you that you have to buy 2 cams. I have now replaced the cams on both doors. The other door broke about 4 years ago. Fortunately the first time I read the user commetns or I would've bought just one. It is a quick easy fix. The longest step is drilling out and replacing the rivet. Everything else is done with a nut driver.
1. I removed the top door hinge. 2. I removed the door and laid it flat. 3. I replaced the cam attached to the bottom of the door. This was very easy. 4. I removed the bottom door hinge and had to remove the brad that held the second cam. This went well as I was able to saw it with a hacksaw. 5. Replaced the second cam with a bolt and nut. 6. Replaced the door and top hinge. 7. Remember to order two cams when you do this repair.
I Supported the door with wood blocks. Then used a socket wrench to remove both parts of the lower hinge. I had purchased 2 of these plastic closers as recommended. One of them must be cut off with a Dremel Tool or small grinder. A small bolt and nut replaces the rivet that was cut off. Reinstall it just as it was removed. Job complete. Parts were delivered on time, web site instructions were excellent. I highly recommend PartSelect.com
Removed screws holding top door hinge. Lifted the door off bottom hinge. Unscrewed cam from bottom of door. Drilled out rivet holding the second cam in the bottom hinge. Replaced both cams using a flat headed bolt to hold the bottom cam. Dropped door into bottom hinge and replaced top hinge screws. Job done.
Make sure you buy two cams and have a bolt to replace the bottom rivet.
Not a difficult job as long as you have a drill !!!
Removed the top cover using a Phillips screw driver to access the top 2 screws holding the bracket. Once the bracket was removed, lifted the door off the bottom hinge. Replaced the door closing cam, replaced shims and screws. Placed the door back on the bottom hinge, inserted the top bracket and secured. This was the ultimate resolution to the problem. The problem I encountered was getting all of the correct parts. It took me 3 tries to finally identify and receive the parts needed to make the repairs. Using Part Select made it easy because they had the parts I needed. My 3 tries were partly my error and does not reflect on Part Select. I would recommend others use Part Select when choosing their replacement parts.
Refrigerator door wasn't self-closing; door hung a little lower than the freezer door
The old plastic door closer cam on bottom of the the door had broken. What was left of it was held on by a hex head screw. There was also a fiber spacer under the cam that was broken. I made a new one out of a piece of aluminum, but cardboard probably would have worked.
Forgot to mention you have to take the door off first--loosen the two screws on the top hinge and lift the door out of the bottom hinge.
I found the self-closing sometimes won't work well until there is some weight in the door.
Refrigerator door would not close by itself - would stay open when you thought it was closed
1st: Order (2) closing cams! One for the hinge pin / bracket and one for the bottom of the door. The closing cam on the door was where the Dremel type tool is required, since you have to grind the head off of a factory rivet. I installed the cam with an aluminum pop rivet. Next, remove the bracket on the bottom of the door with sockets and install the second closing cam. Re-attach the top door hinge pin and align visually; tighen all bolts. Job finished, but more important , my wife is not nagging me about the repair that I put off for over a year!!!!
