dryer squeaking
took dryer apart after viewing video. Found problem to be wheel on tension part holding drive belt in place. Used wd-40 to clean plastic wheel put dryer back together problem solved
The dryer was making a grinding metal on metal sound when running
I removed the front panel of the dryer and the assembly that holds the tumbler in place to see what was causing the grinding noise. After seeing some worn parts I went on partselect.com and entered the model number of my dryer. I was provided with diagrams that told me which parts needed to be replaced. I watched the repair video for the Front Glide Kit which was VERY helpful. I ordered 2 front glide kits and a drum felt seal on a Sunday afternoon and paid for overnight shipping. I verfied that my parts shipping first thing on Monday and had them by Tuesday morning. I completed the repairs when I got home from work on Tuesday. There was no repair video for the drum seal but the repair descriptions from the other customers were helpful enough to guide be through. The hardest part of the repair was putting the assembly that holds the tumbler back in place. It took me about 15-20 minutes to get it in place and get the felt seal tucked outside of the tumbler. Once I got it all back together (nice to have to video to make sure I got everything back correctly) I plugged it in and turned it on...ah, a nice quiet dryer again! Thanks PartSelect! It's nice to save money AND repair things myself easily and correctly.
I followed the video on the site for the most part. My neighbor helped me maneuver the drum. The noise stopped after the repair that day, but unfortunately it started up again a few days later. Now it is intermittent. I don't know what the problem is :(
This repair is very easy. The video on partselect.com explains exactly how it's done. My only difficulty was getting the belt back on the tensioner (which incidentally the partselect video described as the only difficult part of the repair. I wasn't able to get the belt on the tensioner when the pulley was under tension from the spring. After a few minutes of frustration, I unhooked the spring from the pulley, put the belt on the pulley and pretty easily reattached the spring. The dryer now operates quietly and perfectly. Amazingly this maytag is drying clothes for it's fourth generation in my family. I'm glad it was such an easy and inexpensive repair.
Heard a loud squeaking noise in dryer. I changed the belt first which was cracked and worn. The dryer noise did improve, but was still present. I then replaced the rollers and now it runs very smoothly. Should get another 25 years from it. The Instructions for installation were very helpful and easy to follow.
I removed the front panel, drilled out the worn glider plate's rivets and riveted the new plates on. It was easy. However its too late for this worn out dryer. I've replaced, belts, pulleys, wheels, gas valves, ignitor elements, humidistats, lamps, felt rings, and even the whole motor. This baby has just seen too much action and its time for a new dryer.
The dryer was making a loud noise. I dos some research and took off the front and the noise was coming from the support wheel.
I first went online for instructions. I then went to home depot to find the part, but they didn't have it. They recommended an appliance store, called them and they were getting ready to close and wouldn't stay open 5 more mins for a customer- so I ordered from you guys. The part came on time and fit perfectly.
I followed the procedure shown in the video. The only difference was that the model I have is a little newer than the one in the demo. The backing nut on the roller shafts used a 1/2 inch end wrench instead of a 9/16. It went very well and the dryer runs very quiet now. The wife is happy and says she thinks it's quieter than when it was new. Thanks for the demo video it made all the difference.
Removed the door, then the front panel. Removed the lock plates for the top and tipped it to the rear. Removed the lint vaccuum assembly and the front drum support bracket. Removed belt from drive motor and pulled drum straight out the front. Removed snap ring on support roller shaft and removed old roller. Installed new roller and re-assembled in reverse order. Part fit perfectly and included reasonable instructions.
on start up of the dryer there was a grinding kind of noise.
remove front of dryer by unscrewing 2 screws and disconnected 2 wires.took small access panel off back of dryer . supported dryer drum from underneath and r & r old parts.
ps before you put it all back together connect 2 wires from front door and turn dryer on to see if dryer is quiet.if so reassemble dryer in reverse order
I followed the descriptions from other do-ti-yourselfers on your web site and the "fix" was quick and easy. It took me longer to file my snap-ring pliers , made in China of course, to fit the snap-rings than it did to make the repair.
