Keep searches simple. Use keywords, e.g. "leaking", "pump", "broken" or "fit".
Freezer wasn't cooling - compressor not engaging
Ordered the Capacitor and the Thermostat Control. Parts were received in a matter of a few days, easy to install, but did not fix the problem. Had to call a repairman to fix the problem (compressor relay - this part not available to order for this model number with Parts Select). Will continue to use Parts Select in the future for other parts, but not happy that the actual part I needed was not available - had to use other methods.
Thawed out freezer, I recommend laying a couple old towels in freezer to soak up melted ice. Replaced old thermostat with new part. Removed 2 screws, removed back plate, unplugged 2 connectors and cut 2 wires. Crimped in new thermostat and repositioned to original part location. Reconnected plugs as I reinstalled back plate. Installed 2 screws and connected power. Works like new! Trouble shooting and part installation video is very helpful, great site!
Unplug refrigerator , loosing two screws. Lift ice maker up to remove from position. Disconnect electrical connection. Reverse procedure to install new ice maker.
We love our ice here. I seem to replace the ice makers one to two times a year. Generally the ice cycle gets off for some reason and it starts making loud popping/clicking noises (gear grinding). Its easy to replace. Simply loosen two screws holding the unit to inside of freezer and disconnecting the wiring harness. Unit slide up and out. Replacement is super easy (5 mins or less). Bam! Ice!
The service manual diagram shows the 149 complete fan shroud in a vertical (upright) position. Misleading! Of course. The actual mounting of the lay in fan shroud fully assembled is in the horizontal position laying in a tray area just above the evaporator coil cage assembly. The entire shroud assembly can be installed incorrectly by the diagram and will still fit. BUT... no cold air will flow or be forced into the ice maker vent nor the refrigerator vent. I found this out the hard way by trial & error. If the drawing had shown it in the horizontal position for both removal and reinstallation... it would have saved a lot of time and headaches. Also, the diagram does not show the (2) plastic angle supports on the shroud, another scratch your head event. Parts included on drawing... 149, 5, 8, 9, 13, 14 on CTFFHS2611PF4 diagram page of service manual. ALSO, the (4) lower cabinet plate screws have to be removed, and the first left hand screw counting up to allow the next upper panel to swing out enough to lay the shroud in correctly (horizontal) on top of the evaporator coil cage. BOTTOM LINE... THE AIR FLOW HAS TO BE UP IN ORDER TO WORK PROPERLY.
Remove items on shelf, in crisper drawers and clean all items including the refrigerator bottom before replacing with new part! Looks like a new refrigerator inside now ????
LOOSENED THE TWO SMALL SCREWS THAT HOLD THE ICE MAKER UP INSIDE THE FREEZER. DISCONNECTED THE WIRING HARNESS. TOOK THE OLD ICE MAKER OUT AND JUST INSTALLED THE NEW ONE IN REVERSE ORDER. LATER THAT DAY I HAD FRESH ICE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN WEEKS!
Pulled unit away from wall and shut off water and unplugged unit. Installed water valve and reassembled, plugged back in and turned on water and checked for leaks. All good. However there is no water getting into the ice maker. The unit itself is going thru a cycle of attempting to make ice and the bail is moving and you can hear the solenoid activate but no water. I have tried to blow thru the tube going to the maker but it seems to be plugged by something. I do not know if there is another valve up there or how to clean it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The evaporator coil is behind the freezer. Remove the rack that makes the shelf and remove two 1/4” hex head screws I the back of the freezer to access the coil. I used a hair dryer to melt the ice off the coil. The thermostat clips on the refrigeration pipe to the coil. Remove the old thermostat and cut the wires at least a few inches from the thermostat. Clip the new thermostat on the pipe and strip about a 1/4” of the wire ends. The electrical connectors (provided with the new part) must be crimped to connect the wires.
Lifted old shelf out and snapped new shelf in. Took less than one minute to install. Identifying and ordering the correct part online was extremely easy due to the excellent presentation of the refrigerator and its parts. Ordered online one day and received the part the next day!
