The overlay control Panay was broken at the bottom
We pryed the ice dispenser housing out unscrewed the overlay from the relay board and then reversed the process to put it back in time consuming but went slow as not to brake tabs or crack housing
The repair was an easy replacement. The problem was the LG part was no longer available from LG or any of the other places I tried. The PartSelect customer service representative was a true professional and did an outstanding job of helping find the correct part (LG's diagram was unreadable) and cross-referenced it to find the the part that PartSelect actually had in stock. I had the part in four day. The best customer service I have had in years. I lost his name but the order was 13449146. He deserves a raise!
I ordered the needed parts, the correct ones I thought, but when they arrived, I realized they were the wrong parts shipped to me. The reason the wrong parts were shipped to me was because PartsSelect failed to advise me there were none of the parts I needed available so they shipped the left hand basket assembly, door, versus the desired right hand basket assembly, door. I then had to return the wrong parts shipped to me, at my cost of ~$25, and await a refund for the wrong parts originally shipped to me. That's how I did the repair.
Opened the box. Removed wrapping. Washed the new part. Unloaded old basket. Removed old basket. Set in new basket. Loaded new basket. Closed the door. Even an 80 year old can do it!
Thanks to videos on You-Tube which showed step by step removal and replacement. It was a simple process. only thing missing on the video was information on the green ground wire.
Need to remove the deli drawer and shelf above. I took out the glass first to make shelf easier to handle. Unscrew old rail and put new one on. Took more time to empty items on shelf. My 17 year old son made the repair.
The hose that feeds the Ice Maker broke, right where it goes in the Fridge.
I actually didn't use what I got. Because there was all kinds of tubing coiled up in the door. We just fed the exsess all the way through the Fridge, and Bingo! It was done.
The old ice maker had cracked and broken, and would no longer make ice.
Six screws to remove the old one (I looked up the process on Youtube) and six screws had it back in tip top shape. Three wire connections, two were plug in and one was a ground wire. BTW: It was a 3 wire, not a 6 wire. I had ordered that by mistake and PartSelect made the return and replacement very easy.
Reviewed instructions on YouTube. Removed storage box.Removed Philips head screw on either side of track. Lifted door and placed it on table. Using a flat blade screwdriver removed old gasket (it did not looked damaged). Pressed new gasket into groove in door. Replaced door onto track and replaced screws. Replaced storage box. No more ice buildup.
