No instructions provided; Star driver included but useless
This repair is simple. However, what you recieve is a box of loose parts and no instructions. The new parts are not remotely the same design as the original. You have to figure out how to remove the old parts (fairly easy by careful prying) but then sort out what the new parts do and how they fit together. It takes patience and some mechanical knowledge. Once you figure it out, it goes quickly. A fairly simple diagram included with the parts would be definite benefit for most people. It seemed like an odd omission. They also include the shortest star driver (about 1 inch long) I have ever seen for the 4 screws but it is useless since you can't really apply enough torque to the screws to properly set them. Be prepared with a standard length star driver.
Hardest part was pulling dishwasher away from cabinet, making sure to not disturb water and drain line. I replaced both door springs which are on the two sides and attached to the dishwasher frame towards the back. This necessiatated pulling the dishwasher about 2/3 out of cabinet. After attaching both springs to frame, replacing the balance kit was a breeze .One screw to remove and then replace with new pulley unit. Attach the supplied cord with attached fittings to spring and then around two pulleys and mounting point on frame. Done . Push dishwasher back into cabinet, reattach two screws to underside of counter. Probably did not require new springs as they seem heavy duty and were not broken upon examination but ordered them also and replaced just in case. Most problem would be with broken cord in balance link kit
Looked on you-tube and it was so easy. Pump on bottom right. unplug pump and do a halfway turn. Plug the new one up and place the pump on, and turn halfway and its on. START your dishwasher
First electrical power to the dish washer was turned off. The top portion of front door panel was then opened up to expose pocket handle and latch assembly. Old latch assembly was replaced with new latch assembly and a new fuse. The door panel was then re-closed and electrical power turned on.
A plastic retainer pin for the bottom kick panel was missing.
simply line up the new pin with the rectangular slot in the kick panel and metal panel behind, slide the pin in and turn it with a flat blade screw driver. NOTE: the original pin was black. A black replacement part cost $29 plus shipping! A knock-off pin was only $6 plus shipping. I got the cheap one and colored it with a black Sharpee marker before installation.
Due to the way I installed the appliance originally it was not necessary to disconnect supply water nor the drain connections. When the cord broke the spring came out of the point of connection to the appliance. It some "finagelling" to reattach the spring. After some "select vocabulary" it hooked into the correct spot and the rest was history.
Original upper tray had broken away from all 4 rollers.
Although the b&w photos spooked me a bit. I quickly learned to tear off/break off the old adjuster arms, and then refer to the written directions for installing the new parts. Don't waste your time trying to figure out removal of the original parts, just get them off. So, I did not find the photos helpful, but I figured it out.,with help from the text And of course, once you do one side, the other side is a breeze!
Remove the 4 torch head screws that secure the control panel. Unplug it from the door assembly. Remove the 6 torch head screws that secure the front of the door. Unplug the pigtail left from the control and discard it. Plug in the new control panel with the new pigtail provided. Set the new control panel and the front door panel in place and install the top 2 torch head screws in the front door panel to secure both pieces. Install the other 4 torx head screws in the door panel and then install the 4 torx head screws in the control panel. Job done.
The rollers on my top rack in my dish washer were broken and wouldn't stay on every time you pull the rack out it would fall. So I ordered the rack adjuster kit and it had everything I needed to fix it. Works like brand new now not hard to change and put new on took about 15 minutes approximately. D
Just remove from dishwasher the top rack and remove the old rack adjusters and put the new ones on , only 2 screws to each side and you are back in business. Very easy to change out. Put the rack back in slots in dishwasher and that's it.
