da basket don't come with rections so you gota figer it out yor sef. I tride pullen the handle off and it work then I tride pushen it on the other basket and it work to. Then i tride swapen dem and it work so thats how ya doit
After receiving the latch assembly, which arrived rather quickly, I found the handle itself was not enclosed in the package. Therefore this repair was delayed and after several calls to the 1-800 number I was informed the company had discontinued the distrubution of the handle. They offered a full refund, however I'm still waiting for the return labels so as to ship the latch back.
Now on the brighter side, the company representative put me in touch with a local distributor that did carry the latch/handle assembly as one piece and for a lot less money.
For those who are attempting the repair, don't worry, It was very simple. Just remove hex screws, lift the inside panel, unplug the two connectors and insert the new assemply.
Must say my wife was very happy to have the dishwasher up and running again.
The original basket had holes broken in the bottom
When the (overpriced) replacement silverware basket arrived (rapidly, within a few days of my ordering) I was shocked and angry that the handle for the basket was not included--nor were instructions included as to how to remove the old handle from the old basket in order to fasten it to the new basket. Therefore, I spent a considerable amount of time trying to pry the handle off the old one, which was quite tricky: There were four slots which held the plastic "catches", and they had to be pushed out simultaneously. I had to fiddle with it for at least a half hour, trying various implements, until I found that I could push them out simultaneously by wedging butter knives into the slots and then easing the handle off. (I was careful to position myself so that I wouldn't slip and stab myself with the blunt butter knife.) After that, the handle snapped fairly easily into the new basket's slots. In the end, while I was glad to be able to recycle the old handle, I wish that the basket and shelves were made more durably so they wouldn't have to be replaced, or that they could be replaced at a more reasonable price.
After only 2 years, the Amana dishwasher door began to stick severely. If finally stuck so bad that I had to break the handle to get the door open. The replacement latch and handle fit perfectly and it only took a few minutes to get the screws off of the inner door panel to access the broken latch.
broken wash impeller-washer did not drain properly
I took out the racks and disassembled the bottom assembly until I got to the impeller. Just replaced the part and reassembled. I used only a star shaped driver on all tightened pieces. It was very easy to do and I did not even need any advice/help from the hubby! Saved a whole lot of time and money doing this small repair myself. Thanks for fast service. I ordered part online Thur. late afternoon, and it arrived Friday.
I'm telling this story for my husband who is a pretty handy guy--I watched him do the repair. I had had someone out to look at the dishwasher and they said it would be $284 to fix this one little thing because you couldn't buy the one little part separately, you had to buy a whole new motor. Since the dishwasher is old, it didn't make sense to invest this much in it--might as well buy a new one for that kind of money. My husband did some looking around and found the part on your site and installed it himself. So the cost was under $40. The dishwasher is now working better than it had been for a while.
We unscrewed the inner door panel and pulled it apart, disconnected the wiring, removed the screws holding the dispenser in place and swaped it out. One problem we had putting everything back together was that the latch for the door didn't line up and we couldn't shut the door but we simply unscrewed the door, readjusted the latch and put it back together. Works great now!
The dishwasher which came with our newly purchased house had no silverware basket.
I put the silverware basket in the dishwasher. Unfortunately, I also purchased a cover and handle thinking they were needed. Now I need to see about returning the extra parts or just eat the cost.
No repair - just replaced basket. Although picture on site made the basket look light gray, which is color of our dishwasher interior but the new basket ordered is very dark gray.
I removed the screws from inner door panel.The 2 top screws also hold the latch assembly in place.I then lifted the panel, removed latch assembly, unplugged the 2 wires ,then installed new part in reverse order. Reinstalled screws in inner panel. Oh yes,first turn off power first at breaker box.
Just inserted new basket - used butter knife to remove handle from old basket so it could be inserted on new basket. It was helpful to see comments left by others that they had same problem with their baskets and how one used a knife to remove old handle. That was a helpful hint.
