broken heater element
Replaced thermocouple and heating element, clean build up dust lint inside as well. Actual repair takes only removal of 2 screws. Cleaning inside takes longer.
Unplugged the dryer. Released the two forward sping clips holding the top in place and hinged it open. Removed the two 1/4" screws(one on each upper edge of front panel). Disconnected the door switch. Pulled out and up to remove the front panel. Located the cycling thermostat on the blower housing. Disconnected the thermostat wires, removed the (2) 1/4" screws. Installed the new thermostat and assembled in reverse order.
Daughter and I lifted top of dryer, carefully removed old element and thermostat, watching as we went how the old ones came out, and replaced with new one! Dryer working just fine!
Purchased a new blower wheel from you and installed. The part was exactly what I needed and was delivered ahead of schedule. Ordering over the internet was easy and straight forward.
I used a butter knife to push the spring clips that hold the top down, this was the hardest part of the repair. Once the top was open it took about 20 minutes to pull out the old part and replace with the new, including running the dryer on high for a few minutes to get rid of the new element smell. Always unplug before attempting any electrical work.
Tilt dryer top. Inspect damaged part(s). In my case it was the high-limit thermostat; but since the dryer is old, I ordered the heating element kit. The thermostat is included. Disconnect wires from thermostat and remove. Disconnect wires from element and remove. Carefully install new element and reconnect wires. Same for thermostat. Dryer works fine. Also, delivery time was one day. Thank you Partselect.
Removed the old lint filter and slid in the new one. It took me longer to get the box open to get the new lint filter out than it did to actually replace the part.
Unpluged the dryer and removed the rear cover to get access to the timer. Removed the control panel and unscrewed the timer leaving the wires connected. One by one connected the wires to the new timer along with the resistor. Secured the timer to the control panel and attached the control panel and rear cover. If you have enough room you do not have to remove the control panel. The dryer works great.
