i removed the stove eye and the old drip pan. then i placed the new drip pan in and replaced the eye. the new drip pans fit way better than the ones that i took off of it.
Fed ex dropped the part off at 7 one night, had it repaired by 7:05. Popped the broken glide off, popped the new one in. Easier than easy. Took longer to empty the drawer and remove it than to do the repair.
We have an older .......range that came with our house when we bought it in 2000...the stove works fine (for an electric stove!), but the drawer was always problematic. Sometimes it would sit straight in the appliance cabinet and sometimes it wouldn’t. Sometimes it would flop up and down, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t!
We lived with it for TEN years...then a couple of weeks ago I needed a pizza pan. I opened the drawer and the darned thing wouldn’t go back into the stove properly. I played with it for awhile, trying to figure out why it didn’t work correctly! After some energetic observation (accompanied by some choice words about American engineering!) I realized the front drawer guide was broken off!! It was one of those “Aha!” moments!!
I retrieved the plastic piece and went to a local appliance store to get a replacement. They said they’d order one (for 8.95 and I pay shipping and handling!), and it would take 2 to 3 weeks to get it! I declined their offer. Surely, somwhere on the internet there was a supplier who had this part!!
I sat down with my MacBook Pro and looked up “range parts” and was immediately directed to partselect.com. I looked up the part (which was ONLY $3.38) and ordered two. I had the parts in my hand in four days, and even with shipping paid less than half what the other place wanted locally.
I pulled the drawer out, literally dropped in the new guide, and the drawer has worked flawlessly since!! We are forever grateful for PartSelect and will always keep their address on top of our web vendors list!!
Give them a chance...the least you could do is save some aggravation, and maybe a little bit of money, too!!
Tilted the surface unit and proped it up with the metal arm then I unpluged the old 8"-surface element and replaced it with the new 8"-surface element that I purchased from PartSelect.com. I then lowered the surface unit turned the burner knob on and everything worked fine. Thanks PartSelect.com.
light in range control panel/splash guard went out
first I removed the 4 screws holding the cover in place. then I removed the 26" flourescent tube by slowing twisting it free. Then I attemped to buy another one at 6 or 8 stores with no luck. While surfing the web for tappan range replacement bulbs, your web site popped up. Thank god.
The plastic drawer slide that the lower stove door sits on broke. (one on each side) Remove the old one with a screwdriver and snap in the new one, took 1 minute because I replaced both of them. Excellent fast delivery. 5 stars !
Very easy to repair! I removed the old burner and slid the new burner element in its place. It was as simple as that! No tools required. My one and only complaint would be that the old burner was slightly larger (within 1 inch or so) than the new one so the new one sits slightly crooked on the stove top. But it works just fine. The item also shipped very quickly. Within a day or two. I am very satisfied with the transaction overall.
