simply hold the axel with the wire stripper to prevent from rotating. Using the pliers firmly turn old coupling counterclockwise until loose. Once this coupling is totally off you are ready to screw on the new one. Very simple. The most difficult part was finding a tool slim enough to fit between old coupling and base to hold axel from spinning. I ordered part on sunday and received it on tuesday. It spared me from throwing away a $120.00 dollar kitchenaide blender.
Using the precise instructions provided by parts select, I used a big screw driver and pried off the old coupler and cleaned the area and screwed on the new coupler. Fixed!
The part finally arrived 3 weeks later, after being out of stock and back ordered a couple times.
The coupling split apart on my Kitchenaid Blender. I ordered the coupling part and "Bingo", I was back in business. It took no time at all and one screwdriver. I saved penty of money by not having to buy a new appliance.
Just like the directions said, I pryed up on the coupling at a few points around it's circumference and it became loose enough to unscrew. I didn't believe it was going to work at first but, amazingly, it did. All that was left to do was screw on the new part. No problem!
It was harder than the directions said to get the old drive coupling off, but once the old was taken off, it was a piece of cake to put the new one on.
Thanks, great service from this website, received my part the next day after I ordered it!
The original drive coupling totally broke off in pieces.
Went to several online blog sites. Repair of the Kitchenaid blender is a hot topic. Could not repair it the way the instructions indicated. One person used a hammer and that did the trick! Who would have thought to use a hammer?!
Followed the instructions that came with the replacement drive coupler, first removeing the old part using a screw driver, and then easily screwed on the new part. Removing the old part without the aid of the instructions would have been problematic.
The replacement part arrived so swiftly I didn't know what it was until I opened the packet.
The motor drive shaft has two flanges on it that can accept a narrow wrench and the drive wheel can be screwed off clockwise! Alternatively the drive wheel can be easily prised off and the drive wheel screwed on anti-clockwise thread. Success Of course if the drive wheel was made of a more durable material this would not have been a problem unfortunately typically american not made to last!
