Plastic door bracket for icemaker chute broken
Googled with question about how to get to the repair as there were no screws on the faceplate. Found I had to lift the faceplate at the bottom and pry out. Was kind of hard to get the long spindle back through the ears of the bracket holder along with getting the spring of the door lined up for the spindle to pass through to the other side. Finally got it right and then just put it all back together. Frustrating at first but I had to get it done as my wife was tired of having to take large clumps of ice out of the ice tray..three years wait for the repair. That door being open let warm air in and let the ice melt just enough to stick together in a clump. All is well now. Longer you wait the more appreciative she is however. ha
The wiring harness was a straightfoward plug in replacement after depressing the securing tabs, and did provide power to the icemaker. However, the icemaker would continually cycle, with the mold heater on at all times. I suspect this is what caused the thermal fuse to blow in the first place. Rather than spend more time replacing individual components, I eneded up replacing the full ice maker assy. The new ice maker works properly.
Technician at ASK suggested replacing ice maker. Ordered new ice maker(prompt delevery)then noticed it came without wire arm and white platic "flag". Ordered arm and "flag", replaced all old with new and seems to be doing well. Perhaps all I needed was the plastic "flag" on the limit arm wire. Will never know. The new icemaker wiring had short wires and a connector. Old ice maker had no connector so the short wires were removed and the old wires plugged into the ice maker. Mirror was required in order to see the side wall mounting screws. Very narrow work area, tiny freezer side.
took apart panel from door and removed old part and installed new part.It's difficult if you have big hands. Best if you have someone hold up wire panel while you are installing.
Popped off the front panel(from bottom) removed two screws to remove old part and put everything on new panel. Put everything back in place all in less then 15 minutes. Ordered parts Wednesday forenoon and received it Thursday morning. Very outstanding service!
The refrigerator door was hanging low and not closing properly. Hence the refrigerator was not maintaining the temperature
First removed the three screws at the top that holds the door at the top. Removed the worn out lower door cam after removing one screw. Did the same on the door closing cam (in fact this cam has worn and broken into two pieces). Replaced with the new ones, put the screws back, mounted the door and replaced the three screws on top. The door closed perfectly. Since this did not help with keeping the refrigerator cold, a day later I had to vacuum the dust off the coils (on the underside of the refrigerator) and thaw the ice from the freezer compartment clearing the ducts to re-initiate the proper flow of air between the two compartments (I learnt on the internet that cold air from the freezer is drawn to maintain the temperature in the refrigerator compartment). The faulty refrigerator door ended up icing our frost free referigerator's freezer compartment and the air ducts in it. Therefore I had to simply turn off the refrigerator for 12 hours, thaw everything and restart! I know nothing about refrigerators. Just did it after visiting your site and a couple of other sites. Saved me about $300!!
Old drawer - plastic cracked, and would not run along rails
First, imagine the frustration - I want an apple.... can barely open the drawer. Need carrots - the struggle. Celery? Wondering if I can do without..... the drawer's plastic has broken along where it slides along the guide rails, and it was a pain to open and close the drawer. First, as is my custom I went to Amazon, but couldn't find the part. There, however, I read a useful customer review that told me how to find the correct item, so I did that, input the part number into google, and VOILA - I got to this website. Excitedly, I input my credit card information and waited with eager anticipation (and a bit of trepidation - would it be the correct size?) for the drawer to arrive. A short time later, I found a large box at my front door. With joy, I took some scissors and opened the box, and then carefully used the scissors to cut the binding strap that was holding the protective cardboard wrap. My new drawer!! I gave it a quick clean, and then opened my fridge door all the way (this is an important step). I pulled out the old, broken drawer, and carefully inserted the new. It fit perfectly!! This took about 15 seconds. I then took those apples, carrots, and celery (and a pomegranate and some lettuce) from the old, broken drawer and placed them tenderly into the new drawer. I slid the drawer closed, and then shut the fridge door. Mission accomplished! Last step was to throw the old broken drawer into the garbage - this was a very simple process as well.
Followed the video on parts page. I was worried I would brake the cover but learned from the video the right way to remove the front plate. I found the video very informing. Thank you for saving me a service call and the part cost was minimal compared to a new refrigerator .
I watched the video this site has on their website and I did exactly as the instructor did. I had my ice maker fixed in less than 30 minutes. I had watched the video prior to receiving my parts so I already had the prep work done. I had the parts removed that needed removing and all I did was slide the new ones into place. Use the parts chart on this site to make sure you get the right parts and use the video to uninstall/install your parts. Do exactly like the instructor says and you won't have any problems. It was as my school kids say, "easy peasy". Thanks!!!
First the small screws you sent did not fit.I had to cut and mend the old ones (2) to use them.I did purchase a connecting valve tha I used to connect the part of tubing (my name for it) from old one to new one.I was surprides it is working fine.Not bad for a nurse!
Removed the drip tray under ice & water dispenser & removed 2 screws holding faceplate. Unsnapped 2 microswitches that control ice dispenser & water dispenser. Removed 2 screws holding control bracket, replaced with new one & reassembled. Done!
Super-easy... First, empty refrigerator door. Then, just remove the bolt that goes through the cover over the top hinge. This exposes three more small bolts. Remove these and the top hinge assembly will lift off. Lift door off. Remove cam from door and lower hinge, slip new cams on, and reassemble. The hardest part was pulling all of the junk stuff out of the refrigerator door. Who know you could accumulate so much salad dressing?
