Found the belt was broken and the pulley wheel had melted, replaced the belt and the pulley, could not have been simpler. Watched the video on how to repair and in less than 15 mins was fixed. Saved a lot of money by doing it myself.
Machine would not start and light stayed on with door closed.
Turned off circuit breaker to machine. Removed lint trap to allow removal of two Philips screws from vent passage that hold lid on. Opened door and removed two Philips screws that hold switch to front of machine. Using flat blade #2 screw driver pushed on plastic locking tabs under front of machine top about 2" in from either side to allow top to be lifted up from machine. While holding up at 45 degree angle reached in and grabbed switch to pull it out for easy access. Set top down gently once switch was out. While holding switch removed broken switch actuator and installed new actuator on to switch. Lifted top back to 45 degree angle and with left hand held switch assembly in place and started two screws previously removed back into actuator holes. Tightened screws snugly. Lowered top back into plastic locking tabs and gently pushed down to secure top. Installed two screws back to air passage tube for lint trap through two holes in top that were removed at beginning of repair. Install lint trap, turn on circuit breaker and verified operation. Put wet clothes in tub, turned machine on, put away two screw drivers and kissed wife apologizing for taking so long to getting around to repairing machine.
Took 3 screws out used the putty knife to pry the door a part then used the pliers to remove the old door catch and then sapped the new one and put the door back together and I was was done in less than 10 min.
Dryer was making a loud rattling noise and shaking
I watched the part select you tube video that links specific loud dryer noises to specific broken or loose parts. It allowed me to identify the part I needed, which I ordered through their website. Two days later, I had the part and installed it, with help from another online video that showed me how to take the dryer apart to install the drum support roller. Thank you, the information provided made the repair quite easy. It works perfectly now!
Dryer making a screeching noise. Diagnosed by removing idler pulley first, then turning the motor and learning that it was the motor that was squeaking or the blower fan.
Ordered the motor with pulley and blower wheel in case the wheel did not come free from the motor. Took out the lint screen, took off the top and disconnected the wires for the door switch, took off the front. Remove the idler poi and the belt and then removed the drum. I read in other repair YouTube videos, the blower wheel sometimes is so seized onto the motor axle that you have to remove the wheel by cutting it off. Yes, ours seized! Cut off the motor axle with a hacksaw and then the motor and the wheel were free. This was not an issue since I had purchased both the motor and the wheel which I recommend doing anyway. Our dryer over 25 years old and it does not have many electrical components, which I love. We removed the parts put in the new parts. Follow the wiring diagram to get the new motor hooked up. Then I replaced the drum support rollers, which were a snap and then we put it all back together. We added an extra step because we had to takeoff the back of the dryer to gain access to the blower. It turned out to be a good thing since years of lint have been trapped at the bottom of the lint chute. I cleaned everything, washed everything and put it all back together and it purrs like a kitten. Took us about 2 1/2 hours total since we are very cautious and slow as we didn’t want to break things. I am very happy with the end result and hopefully it will last another 25 years! Parts were spot on and worked perfectly. Much more economical than buying a new dryer for $750-$1000.
I take the screws out of the door, I removed the catch from behind inside the dryer door, I slid the new catch in the door and snapped it in place. After getting a new catch in the door I put the door back together and put the screws in. Easy repair
I diagnosed the problem, as a broken arm on the actuator for the door shut switch. I jumped the switch, and dryer worked. I went to this site, found the part I needed, ordered it/received it quickly, and proceeded to do the repair. The video that THIS particular part goes for, isn't' like MY dryer. My dryer hinges in the rear. You just remove the 2 screws on either side of the control panel, (right and left), pull forward on the panel, to ease its attachment, let it lie. Then with a small plastic pry tool, pop the 2 attaching points in the front of the dryer. Front end lifts up, like a hood on a car. My roommate held hood up, while I R&R'd the switch actuator. Went back together, in reverse of my taking apart. Worked great. Thanks a bunch.
Removed old catch and strike with screwdriver and needle nose pliers. Installed new parts. My old catch did not have comparible numbers so I just used the yellow one. Worked fine.
Dryer making excessive noise; then continued to blow circuit
Attributed excessive noise to age of dryer, upon closer inspection, a dish towel had become caught at rear of drum because the drum support rollers were damaged causing the drum to create a space in the rear of the drum. This was large enough for the dish towel to be caught. Originally I thought that the thermal fuse had blown the circuit-which should occur in an overheating situation-however the loose drum had worn through the electrical wire leading to the door switch because it was not properly seated on the rear drum rollers. the wire was repaired with a wire nut, rear drum rollers were installed and it is working again. thank you for the extremely fast shipping
Took of the btm pan and the top to be able to remove the front. Raised the drum enough to replace the right hand wheel. ( the old ones had already been removed) Replace the left hand wheel and bracket. Re assemble the machine. Worst part was trying to do all this with the can of beer in one hand!!
