My 672915e701ma front baffle somewhat spectacularly came off my Murray 222310x8a lawnmower. What's it's purpose? I've read that it helps keep grass out of the axles. Is that really an issue? Will the mower work safely and effectively without it? Thank you.

Hi Daniel,
Thank you for the question. The baffles help in keeping the grass clippings and other debris from getting into the axles. In order to keep the axles in working order the baffles are needed.
Hope this helps!
