Hello. The oven would not start, but the 4 stove top burners were working fine. The igniter had failed. I replaced the igniter with a Generic version (before I found this web site). Now the igniter will start the oven, and the temperatures are fine. Just prior to ignition there is a faint smell of gas, which disappears when the oven ignites. However once the oven is shut off the gas smell returns and persists. We now turn off the main gas valve to the stove when it is not in use. Has the gas valve failed? Should I replace it? And if so, do you have the part? Please advise. thanks, John
For model number FGF316ASA
Hello John, Thank you for the question. We would first suggest replacing the Igniter with an OEM part to make sure it is turning the Valve off and on properly and at the correct times. If the Igniter does not fix the issue, the Valve will need to be replaced. If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!
