Light switch replacement
Old switch was a challenge to remove and a small flat screwdriver depressing the retainer tabs did the trick. Once out the molded plug made replacement easy. Part fit perfectly and snapped easily into place. Don’t make the mistake of leaving the refrigerator plugged in when you do this, as there is 120 volts going through this switch.

Light wouldn't turn on when door opened
Unplugged fridge, opened the door, used flat head screwdriver to pop off old switch, unplugged wires, plugged in new switch, popped it back in, and plugged the fridge back in. 2 minute fix.

I can get the freezer door's light switch loose from the panel but there appears to be insufficient wiring slack to enable me to pull the switch out of the hole. Should I disassemble the control panel to remove the switch?
For model number FRS20ZRGW6
Hi Barry,
Thank you for the question! If you take a small flat head screw driver and pry the switch from the hole enough to use the head of the screw driver to push down on the clips that hold it in place, you should be able to pull the switch from the hole no problem and disconnect the plug. Perhaps the wires are snagged? If this is the case you may have to disassemble the control panel to get to the back to disconnect the wire this way.
Hope this helps!
