Hi,
The ice dispenser door flap located on the freezer door will not open and the dispensed ice gets backed up in the chute. I can open the flap manually and it immediately flips back in place when I let it go, so I am positive the spring is good and the flap hinges are okay. Is there a solenoid or motor that opens the door? If so which part number is it and how do I get to it to replace it? if any videos are available that would be great!
thanks,
hal h.

Hi Hal,
Thank you for your question. There is a micro switch that is behind the control panel in the dispenser that may be causing this issue. The dispenser micro switch is a momentary contact switch that when activated it will supply power to the auger motor and the solenoid for the dispenser door. The switch sits behind the pad or lever that is pressed to dispense ice. You will need to remove power to the appliance and then remove the control panel cover to access the switch. You should also check the lever, the door and the dispenser control board, to see which part is causing the issue. You will need to test the parts with a multimeter. Here is a link to one of our videos on YouTube that you may reference on how to use one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWC44fHn0As. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
