The evaporator coils have iced up for the second time now. The fan is still working. I am wondering what parts I can change out to resolve this issue. Temperature sensor? Heater coil?
For model number RF28HDEDBSR/AA
Hi Scott,
Thank you for your question. If the evaporator coils are frosting over, there is an issue with the defrost system in your refrigerator. The defrost heater assembly in your refrigerator turns on a few times throughout the day to melt away any frost that builds up on the evaporator coils. If the defrost heater assembly is not working correctly, frost will continue to buildup on the evaporator coils. This prevents air from flowing through the coils and prevents the refrigerator from cooling as it should. If the evaporator coils are frosted over, you will need to test each component of the defrost system and replace the part that is causing the issue. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
