How does broiler element attach to appliance? Oven is slide in in-between cabinets. Does it have to pull out to replace element?
For model number 79046629505
Hello Joan, Thank you for contacting us. The broil element is located in the top of the oven cavity. It is attached by two mounting screws and plug into the terminal block in the back. To remove it you simply need to open the oven door and then use a screw driver to remove the screws. You will be able to pull the element out once you have the screws removed. I hope this helps.

My top oven is not heating properly. How can i tell if it's the element that needs replacing? The bottom oven works fine. It also seems if i put it on broil it heats up okay so am i to assume it's the baking element on the bottom that needs replacing?

Hello Judy, Thank you for the question. Normally if the broil element is working but the bake element is not, the bake element will need to be replaced. You can test the element with a multi meter to see if it has continuity as well. Hope this helps!

My oven doesn’t heat. I ran the self cleaner a few days ago and now it won’t heat. The broiler doesn’t work either. Any ideas about if it is a heating element or something else? I have a Kenmore elite.

Hello Pam, Thank you for the question. We suggest testing the Oven Sensor first to see if it was shorted out during the self clean. Testing the temperature sensor probe on your oven is easy. With the sensor at room temperature, measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. The resistance of the sensor should read approximately 1080 – 1090 ohms at room temperature. If the Sensor is good, you may have a defective Oven Control Board. We hope this helps!
Is this the element going bad? Oven doesn't preheat to temp, won't hold temp. It does a little better in convection mode. Temp reading on panel will say 350 degrees after Preheat, but small oven thermometer put on shelf in oven reads much lower temp (275-300 degrees). Would this be the part # for the correct element? # 318255807
