How to remove cover on float in GE dishwasher model gdwf160r10ss?
Hello Gene,
Thank you for your question.
You would simply lift up and rock the float dome until it releases.
I hope this helps!

The washer does not fill up with water. If I pour a gallon and half of water in there, I hear it start to fill. Is there something wrong with the float?
For model number GLD5660N00SS
Hi Rodney,
Thank you for your question. A malfunctioning float could cause the dishwasher to not fill with water. The acts as a safety device that prevents the dishwasher from overfilling with water. The float rises with the water level in the dishwasher and when the proper level is reached, the float will trigger the float switch to turn off the water inlet valve. To verify if the float switch is causing the issue, first unplug your dishwasher. Begin by opening your dishwasher door and removing the cover over the float assembly. Once you’ve done that, manually lift the float and let it drop multiple times, it should move freely, if it does not, remove the float to remove any foreign objects in the guide tube. You should also inspect the float for any visible wear or damage. Remove the lower access panel to determine if the float is mechanically engaging with the float switch. If you find any issues while performing this inspection, you will need a replacement float. If the float is not the issue, there are some other parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. Here is a link from our website that you may reference on what parts to check, https://www.partselect.com/AdvancedModelSymptoms.aspx?ModelNum=GLD5660N00SS&mfgModelNum=&fkMfgID=2&ModelMasterID=226571&PID=37. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

How to check to see if float is working properly?
For model number GDWF160R10SS
Hello Gene,
Thank you for contacting us.
First, you would want to make sure that the float itself will move freely, If this is the case then you would need to check the microswitch for continuity.
I hope this helps!

The dishwasher is leaking around the bottom corner of the door during the wash cycle. The float switch does not appear to be stuck. Does thus indicate a seal problem? If not, what else could it be?
For model number PDWT3800V00SS
Hello William, thank you for your question. If the water is coming from the corner of the door, not underneath, the bottom door seal, and gasket around the tub would want to be replaced first. The parts are PS1017292 for the inner bottom door gasket which is only available by ordering the inner door panel, and the Tub gasket part number PS958888. I hope this helps!

What is the purpose of the float?
For model number GLD5600NOOWW
Hi Bob,
Thank you for your question. The float triggers the float switch to shut off, thereby shutting off the flow of water into the dishwasher. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
