The refrigerator makes a rattling noise when running and shuttering sounds when it stops. It was cooling well but now the freezer compartment runs around 15 degrees. I replaced the motor in the freezer compartment it’s blowing cold air just not getting cold enough. Suggestions?

Refrigerator is working fine, not running too much, cooling well. But it makes a loud clunk a second or two after the compressor stops -- sometimes louder, sometimes softer. I opened the back cover and with the cover off the noise is much reduced. So I think something is contacting the back cover (maybe the filter dryer tube).
Any thoughts about repairing vs replacing this model?

Hi Steve, thank you for your inquiry. When you hear knocking sounds coming from your refrigerator, it is likely because of an ice buildup around the evaporator fan. Besides that, the water pipes behind the fridge could be knocking on the appliance or the wall, causing similar noises. Based on the description that you have provided, we would recommend checking the following parts: the evaporator fan blade, part number PS11738954, and the condenser fan motor, part number PS11723170. If this does not help, then you may need to check the compressor, part number PS2580802. We hope this sorts out your problem!
