Cycling was erratic
Had been erratic for some time, maybe two or three years, but finally it would never fill; just went straight to the wash cycle without water. I referred to a YouTube video, but it is actually quite simple to remove the old control board and replace it with a new one. (Simple for me because long ago I used to service electro-mechanical ga

My wife and I are VERY please with the restored function. BTW - The machine is mechanically sound.

Start button malfunctioning.
Washer (only 1-1/2 years old) wouldn't start. (The "repair" man on this website says "99% of time it is the button". Wrong! The button that is indicated is only the button cover.) If the start button (which is not detachable)is bad you have to replace two circuit boards. Part required is #GEHWH12X10439 (2 circuit boards). WARNING - NEVER

On back top of machine locate and using a nut driver/socker remove the 3 screws holding the button panel to the washer frame. Lift & slide the knob panel to the right about a 1/2 inch and the panel falls foward. You will see two circuit boards attached to each other by a ribbon cable. DO NOT detach ribbon cable. CAREFULLY unplug the 3 wire sets and the "jumper" plug (a plug that has a wire coming out of it and right back into it) Pinch top of plug to get them to release. Again using a nutdriver/socket remove the 4 screws, 2 on each board. The smaller board will come off easily. The larger one (actually two boards sandwiched) sits in a groove and on screw posts. Lift the bottom of the board up just a little and slide the board out. Now put the new boards in the same way the old boards came out and tighten the screws until just snug (overtighting may crack the board). VERY CAREFULLY plug the wire sets back into the circuit board. They can only go back on one way. (If you bend the prongs on the plugs you might have to buy another circuit board set.) Don't forget the "jumper" plug. Put the button panel back on the same way it came off. Plug in machine and try the start button. If it works (and it should)shut the machine off, unplug the machine and put the knobs back on. Put the 3 screws on the top back of the machine back one and tighten to snug. If the start button doesn't work, unplug machine, reopen the knob panel and check the wire plugs. Put panel back on, plug the machine in, and test again.

Periodically (not every time), after filling with water, or during the filling with water cycle the washer will just stop and not proceed. To restart you have to stop, clear and restart the process, then it will finish the wash cycle. What controls this function? Is it the electronic board or ????.

Hi Loren,
Thank you for your question. It may be your board that is the issue however I would suggest testing your lid switch first. It could be that it is working on and off and not letting the machine continue in its cycle. Good luck with your repair.

The timing cycle is off on my washer. It begins to spin as the water fill is going on. Also, the wash cycle begins during the fill cycle and the regular wash cycle seems too short. Will a new control board fix this? How easy is it to replace?
For model number WHRE5550K2WW
Hello Vito, Thank you for the question. Yes, the new board should fix the issue. The timer for this model is build into the control board and is not repairable so the board will need to be replaced. Previous customers said it was a fairly easy job to do. Here is a repair story from a previous customer. "Unplug machine. Carefully pull off knobs. My washing machine won't start. I got a new start button, but it still doesn't work. Do you think that I need a new board? Thank you for your help in advance!

Hi Mary, Thank you for the question. If the board does not light up and there is no operation at all, I suggest having it replaced. Hope this helps!

I bought the electronic board and I threw the old one away. I forgot to save the jumper plug. I looked to buy one, but I do not see it listed. My machine only lights up, but it will not turn on. Can you help?

Hello Mary,
Thanks for your question. You will need a new jumper plug, part number PS269838.
I hope this helps.
My washer will get stuck looping between the rinse and wash cycles, never progressing to the spin cycle. Do i need to replace the whole board?
For model number Whre5550k
Hi Brian,
Thank you for your question. You are missing the last part of your model number but I am not sure that you may need to take a look at your door lock first. It sounds like maybe that part is failing just before the spin cycle. If your door lock fails it will not allow the appliance to go into the spin cycle. If that part is fine then it may be your board but I would suggest checking your lock first. Good luck with your repair.
