Is this wave guide mica cover supposed to be cleaned from time to time ? Is it fragile? If dirty, does it impede the microwaves taking longer to cook?
For model number SCA2000BCC03
Hi Jack,
Thank you for your question. The wave guide is the part where your microwaves pass through. It is there to stop moisture and food particles getting into the inside of your machine. Cleaning it would probably help to keep up the maintenance on the part. Over time, because of moisture and food particles, the wave guide can get soft and may need to be replaced. It should be hard and rigid. It would not really impede the microwaves and take something longer to cook though. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
