Lid wouldn’t lock keeping machine from working
Unplugged the machine, pulled it away from the wall, didn’t have to disconnect water lines, set the parts out on the counter as I went over the instructions a couple of times, followed the directions, plugged it back in, worked perfectly again.

the machine was spinning after a load was done,
any electrical device unplug the power cord. I followed the instructions the best I could understand them. but once the part was removed I took pics from my cell phone of how the wiring ran, and also what other connections I had to undo. all connections were made, connected the hot n cold hoses, plugged into the washer no beeps or sounds as before opened the hot n cold water valves, and the tub was being filled with water. could not turn on the washer, no lights or beeps... so I gave up I spent too much time on this machine and money too, hope to get an RMA for the Lid Switch assembly

The machine stopped working completely! My wife went on YouTube, and learned that it could be the motherboard or the door latch. We changed both, and the washer would only fill but did not drain, and spin! We called a serviceman, and he had to program the service board, but said that the new door mech
We changed the circuit board once, and the door latch mechanism twice because we ordered a faulty part. Then we had to hire a service man to program the circuit board, and to inform us that the door latch mechanism was faulty.

Lid lock blinks, washer will not operate
Put the parts in, turned washer on.....lid lock still blinks, will not operate. Suggest the control board that sends the signal to the solenoid lid lock switch is defective. Buying a new washer, scrapping this one.

Washer would not start
The parts I ordered were made of junk plastic and did not match up with the the existing parts. The parts did not end up fixing the problem and I bought a new washer instead.

Waste of money

Lid was forced open and broke latch
Follow the super simple, precise instructions and it is very easy. Only harder part was unclipping the front of the lid.

Water would not empty from washer and lid switch kept clicking
The most important item I learned is the original lid switch is no longer available. It has been replaced with the entire Lid Switch Assembly. I read the new switch is magnetic versus the old which was mechanical. The kit comes with everything you will need (switch, wiring harness, lid lock bezel and instructions). I found the written instructions to not be the easiest to follow. However, I found someone had done a YouTube video on the replacement which made the repair easy (under 15 minutes). Although I did the repair by myself, a second person would be handy to hold the washer cover and controls while changing the wiring harness. When testing the new switch, remember to test during the Spin cycle.

The lid switch which signals that the washer door is closed malfunctioned. Even with the lid closed the washer would not spin because the washer was detecting the lid as open because of the faulty switch
The replacement part looked absolutely nothing like the defective part. The old part was easily accessible and was easily unplugged from the wiring harness. I assume when the new part came, I would just plug it into the wiring harness, snap some of the trim pieces in place and be done. 5 minutes. But no. The replacement part was completely different and came with its own wiring harness and length
of wire which had to be installed. The installation of the wiring harness was extremely complicated which involved popping off the control panel of the washer, prying up the top and disconnecting some other pieces to complete the install. There should have been a clear warning on the replacement part, that it was completely different and likely too difficult for a non-professional repair man.

The washing machine appeared stuck in the spin cycle
I watched a video on a few times that PartSelect sent me about how to make the switch from the broken lock set to the new one. And it really went just as the video showed. So far things are working.

can i dissconnect the lid lock and still have the washer work ?
For model number GTW460ASJ7WW
PartSelect logo
Hi Huey, thank you for reaching out. The lid lock can not be disabled on the machine, since the computer needs to check the lock function. It locks it, then unlocks it then relocks it for function so there is no way to bypass it since it will fail a lock check and then not work if you have it bypassed. We hope this information is useful!
