where is this water inlet valve with flow meter located in the refrigerator? is it accessible through the dispenser, or through the back of the fridge?

how do I troubleshoot this part for proper operations?

For model number PVD28BYNBFS

Hello Rich, thank you for reaching out to PartSelect. Turn off the unit. Remove the water valve. Use a multimeter probe to touch one terminal of the coil you're testing and the second probe to touch the other terminal for continuity. If the meter's needle does not move or the digital display does not change significantly, there is no continuity, which means the valve has failed electrically and will need to be replaced.
