How could I test the thermostat to see if it’s working or not ?
For model number KBCS24RSBS04
Hi Frank, thank you for the question. When the compressor is running, rotating the thermostat dial to the lowest setting and listening for a clicking sound will indicate the cooling system is shutting off, and the thermostat is working. You can also use a multimeter and ice water to test the thermostat for electrical continuity. A continuous electrical path is present in the part, place the thermostat sensing bulb in the ice water. Attach the probes to the thermostat terminals and rotate the dial as the dial reaches a lower setting continuity in the thermostat should be interrupted, if the thermostat tests negative for continuity in all settings or positive at all settings then it is likely the component is defective and will need to be replaced. We hope this information is useful!
