Refrigerator water filter housing replacement
I replaced the old water filter housing because it leaked. The new part functions well and thus the leaks have stopped. Accessing the old part for removal was challenging on this refrigerator model.

Recently replaced solenoid for ice maker / water dispenser. Then had problem with filter staying in place and not continually popping out.
Watched video of similar model repair for filter housing. But the model KitchenAide refrigerator requires enter and replacing housing from the back. My model has a metal facing which has doors attached to it also. It was simple repair though from the backside of the appliance.

Can get the old housing out of the KitchenAid refrigator how can i get it out
For model number KSCS25FVSS03
Hello Melody, thank you for your question. To replace the housing you will need to turn off the water to the fridge. Next, remove the existing filter and then remove the kick plate. The housing should be held into place with two screws that can be removed. Pull the the housing towards you slowly, as there are water lines that will be attached at the back. Remove the water lines by depressing the quick connect coupler that the water line goes through. As you're depressing, pull the water line out of the housing. Have a towel or something handy to catch any water that leaks out of the unit. Once the water lines are removed you can pull the housing out from under the appliance. Here is a link to a video that might help you. This isn't the housing for your specific appliance, but the removal and installation should be relatively the same. I hope this helps!

I am looking at ordering ps11748616, the water filter housing as mine is broken since water just freely flows from my unit every time i try to replace the filter. Is there an installation video so i know what i'm getting into?
For model number KSCS25INSS00
Hi Patrick,
Thank you for your inquiry. There is a video on our website that you can reference on how to install the water filter housing. This video may not show your exact model number, but it will give you a general idea on how to install it. You will find the video under part number PS11748615. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

My water filter doesn't leak, but I can't get it out of the filter housing. The release button doesn't seem to push. I've tried pushing the filter back in but nothing happens. Is there a trick? Or do I have to replace the housing (not something I want to do).
Thanks
For model number KSCS25FVSS03
Hi Marshall,
Thank you for your question. According to your owner's manual, 1. Press the eject button to release the filter from the base grille.
2. Pull the filter straight out.
3. Turn the cap counterclockwise to remove it from the filter.
IMPORTANT: Do not discard the cap. It is part of your
refrigerator. Keep the cap to use with the replacement filter.
4. Align the ridge on the cap with the arrow on the new filter and
turn the cap until it snaps into place.
NOTE: You can run the dispenser without a filter. Your water
will not be filtered. Simply insert the cap all of the way into the
base grille and rotate the cap until it is firmly in place.
5. Remove the protective covers from the O-rings. Be sure the
O-rings are still in place after the covers are removed.
6. Push the filter into the base grille. The eject button will pop
back out when the filter is fully engaged.
7. Flush the water system. See "Water and Ice Dispensers."
If you have tried this and you are still unable to install the water filter, you will need to replace the water filter housing. If you need help placing an order for it, customer service is open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!
