How can I check my capacitor to make sure that is the problem?
For model number LSC8244EQI
Hello Guillermo, Thank you for the question. You can use a multi meter to test the Ohms.Place the meter leads across the terminals, the display or indicator should deflect a "closed" circuit (infinite resistance) and drop back down to an open(no resistance) circuit, if it is good. Hope this helps!

Can i use any other capacitor brand.?
For model number WTW5100SQ0
Hi Angel,
Thank you for your inquiry. You might be able to but an off brand capacitor might also not work correctly inside of your appliance. I hope this helps!

How does this part attach to my washer it came off balance and drop this part. It's brown and had a silver piece metal inside. My machine don't drain and doesn't rotate or drain water. It just fill on. No stop .... thank you.

Hi Carmen,
Thank you for your inquiry. First and foremost you must disconnect the power and turn off the hot and cold water supply to your appliance. First you will have to remove your control panel, there are screws on the side of the control panel that you have to unscrew. They can be either in the front of on the back corner. Some models have a cover on either side of your control panel, so you will need to remove those first to be able to see your screws. Once you have your panel unscrewed, slide it forward slightly and then you should be able to lift it up and flip it over and out of your way. Disconnect the lid switch and then remove the two retaining spring clips that hold the appliance body to the frame. Lift up the lid of your machine, then grab the body and lift it carefully off of the appliance. Now that you have the body off of the machine you should see your capacitor (which looks like a black cylinder) attached to the back panel of your machine. There is a little plastic clip holding the part in underneath of it. Using a flat head screw driver, pop that little plastic piece away from the capacitor to release it. Now that the capacitor is out, you can now unplug it from the appliance. Remove the foam shield from the old capacitor and place it on the new one. The foam shield protects the part from any water. Once you have done this, reverse these steps to put your appliance back together. Good luck with your repair.

Hello Joshua and thanks for writing.
It certainly sounds like a faulty Lid switch issue PS334230 check for signs of damage and replace it if needed. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime.
This is the twin stack w/d combo unit. The washer motor doesn't start, just hums. Powered off. I unmounted it and put it on the floor, put to spin, it hummed. Shaft turns freely. I unplugged the multi connector and reseated it, tried the spin cycle and it ran! Checked and no loose or burnt pins. Tried again same thing, it just hummed. Shut off, plugged and unplugged the connector and it ran. So i think it is the capacitor -but i can't find it to test it!. where is it? diagram shows it (i think) in the upper dryer area. how do i access it?
For model number Whirlpool LTE5243DQ6
Hello David, thank you for your question. The motor capacitor is part number PartSelect Number: PS11746660 and is mounted to the floor of the dryer by the motor. I hope this helps!

The washer will not come on to fill or rinse but will spin. What could the problem be? It worked fine one day and the next day nothing. No burning smells or anything.
For model number CAWS9234VQ0
Hello Tamatha, Thank you for writing. We suggest testing the Water Inlet Valve. Set your multitester to the ohms resistance scale X 1. Place each of the meter's probes to one terminal. Because the reading can vary from brand to brand and from model to model, there is no one reading you should receive. However, if your test produces a reading of infinity, then the solenoid is bad and the water valve should be replaced. We hope this is helpful!
Timer advances, motor works for agitation, but when it gets to spin cycle water will not drain. The lid switch is good. A sock was found in the pump inlet and removed. Tenant does not remember any burned electrical smells. The timer was removed and all contacts look ok. None seem to be burnt and wires seem ok also. Why won't it go into reverse?
For model number LA5558XTW2
Hello Ralph , Thank you for the question. This sounds like the sock may have burned out the pump, PartSelect Number: PS11741239 and it will need to be replaced. Hope this helps!
Whirlpool washing machine capacitor gets hot to the point of blowing smoke. This is a new capacitor, the first one just wouldn't let the machine drain and do the final spin. I tried the first one again and it got hot too. What is causing that much resistance? The motor is now running and sounds fine.
Hello Tom, Thank you for your inquiry. I would check the power going into the capacitor using a volt meter. Check the belt and pulley as well. Also check the wiring going to the capacitor for any visible damage. Hope this helps!

Washing machine was agitating poorly and would not spin. Troubleshooted the issue and replaced the cogs, this helped with agitating. Machine was still not spinning during rinse and drain, so replaced the direct drive coupler, and the clutch assembly. The machine was now spinning but now it will not agitate during the wash cycle, only spin. At my wits end and piles of dirty laundry, help.
For model number IP43001
Hello Maggan, Thank you for the question. This sounds like something could be installed incorrectly or has come loose. You may need to check the Agitator and the cogs to be sure they are in place and installed properly. We hope this helps!

Washer agitator only spins one way during wash cycle. Replaced agitation dogs and didn’t solve. I’ve been told a new capacitor would solve problem but wanted to ask before I tear down machine. Could this solve the problem?
For model number WTW5100VQ0
Hello Matt, thank you for your inquiry. In most cases changing the capacitor (part number: PS11746660) has solved the problem of unidirectional agitation. It is highly probable that the capacitor is the culprit. We hope this helps, please feel free to contact customer service for follow-up queries. Thank you.
