Defrost thermostat. Found drawings to locate, but not how to access. Site does not show where and how to replace.
For model number ET14AKXSW03
Hi Jeff,
Thank you for the great question. The Bi-Metal Defrost Thermostat is located behind the back panel in the freezer section.
In order to get to it you will need to remove the shelving from the freezer including the ice bucket. You will also need to remove the guide rails that hold the bins and the studs the shelves sit on. You may also need to remove the light bulb shield depending on the appliance.
Once the the shelves and glides are removed you will need to remove 6 screws holding the back panel in place and then lift the panel up off the two tabs holding it in place at the top.
You will see the thermostat clipped to the top of the evaporator. You will need to cut the wires removing the old thermostat and then strip the wires so you can connect the new thermostat. You can use wire connectors to attach the wires together, you can pick these up at most hardware stores. Next you can just reverse the steps and reinstall the back panel and shelving.
Hope this helps!
