Fast delivery and easy install
Tried to have a local service company fix the frig/freezer. They came back and said the part was on back order and they did not know when it would come in. PartSelect had it in stock, got it within 5 days, replaced it myself. Frig freezer works great now and I saved close to $400 dollars on part and install.

The evaporator had become noisy
Disassembled the inside back cover and the motor was in a easy location to unbolt and bolt in the new motor. The fan blade is just pressed in place, so you will need a slight pry to remove it.

The back wall in the upper compartment is very warm under the control box. I suspect that the evaporator motor is overheating, and am planning to replace it. I wanted to know if this is a valid assumption or if there something else that i should consider.
For model number GAFZ21XXMK00
Hello Tom and thanks for writing.
That is a valid assumption, here are some more things you can also check.
If the freezer exterior continually feels hot in certain areas, check the condenser for excessive dirt or debris and clean if necessary. Airflow blocked by lint, pet hair and dirt will cause the condenser and heat loop temperature to increase. For instructions on how to clean your condenser, please see the "Installation Instructions" or the "Use and Care Guide."
