Damage to the plastic tub.
The clips that hold the tub halves together were difficult to reinstall. I realized once I got it apart that the damage was probably a secondary condition. The primary problem was that the drum was off center due to a failing bearing. It is only sold with the rear tub assembly. $475.Live and learn. My new LG washer is pretty slick though.

Does this part support the drum - acting like a front bearing? How can you tell if the rear bearing is ok?
For model number GHW9150PW0
Hi Bruce, thank you for the question. The outer tub remains stationary and holds the wash basket or drum, catching the wash water so it can be drained out. If your washing machine is noisy during spin cycle, then this can be a symptom of drum bearing wear. A quick check for wear is to see if the inner drum moves up and down relative to the fixed outer drum. The inner tub must not move more than a millimeter or two. If the movement is more than that, then it is probably worn bearings. We hope this information helps!
