My Maytag gas dryer at first would start but not heat up. I checked in all high heat options but none worked. I replaced the thermal fuse, both the two contact and 4 contact temp sensors, ignitor, flame recognition, coil pack for solenoid valves, and door switch. Since replacing all of those now when I put the timer on high heat timed it will only make a clicking sound but will not start the dryer. If I put the selector on any low heat or cool down location on the timer the dryer will start and heat up but when I put a load of clothes in on low heat cycle it takes two runs ro get clothes dry. Would the timer be the issue why my dryer only operates at low heat settings or cool down portion of other cycles ? Again, I only get a clicking sound that sounds like a solenoid operating but dryer drum does not go and the ignitor does not glow when on any “normal heat” setting. Low heat cycle selector works fine with drum turning and ignitor igniting the gas in cycles controlled by temperature. I have checked every item that I replaced and every one of them are within spec on the ohms testing. The items I replaced were all within spec when I replaced them with new but with dryer not heating up I tried by replacing every item listed that could be at fault. Timer was never mentioned in every source I viewed online and every question I asked.

Hello Forrest, thank you for your query. Based on the description that you have provided, we would recommend replacing the timer, part number PS11742181, to fix the issue. This dryer timer is used to control the unit's cycles by regulating the length of time that power is directed to each setting. We hope this solves your problem!
Maytag Dryer just stopped heating. Blowing out cold air only. Everything works on dryer. Well, Since only blowing out cold air, Timer didn't move. It was just running. what could be wrong?

Hello Earl, thank you for getting in touch. According to our research, the issue is most probably with the timer, part number PS11742181. It controls the electrical components and the duration of the dryer cycles. We would recommend replacing it to solve the problem. Glad to be of assistance!
Pryed dryer top open and opened front door. . Unscrewed the 2 retaining screws. Pulled old switch from the wiring harness. Put new switch in place and replaced the retaining screws. PartSelect showed seven different possibilities why the dryer wouldn't heat. I removed the two screws to remove the bottom panel and turned the dryer on and noticed that the heating element that ignites the gas was working fine. This meant that it was not getting gas so it could be the gas valve or one of the two gas valve coils which are
... Read more located on top of the gas valve. I borrowed my neighbor"s ohm meter and touched the two probes on the coils terminals to check for continuity and found that one of the coils read zero. I then took both of the coils out by removing two screws and tested each coil again. One coil read 500-850 and the other read zero. This meant that it was no good so I called for the part and received it in three days. I reassembled the parts and turned the dryer on and it fired up after a few seconds. It works as good as new. The part plus shipping was less than $30. My repairman would have charged me $150-$200. While the dryer was apart I gave it a good cleaning with a vacuum and a toothbrush in delicate areas. I also removed and cleaned the lint trap housing by removing two nuts. I didn't know much about gas dryers, but thanks to PartSelect I easily fixed it myself.
