My ice maker recently stopped so I took out filter after reading how to troubleshoot this and ordered another filter from you, replaced it and ice maker made ice again. Water dispenser has always worked well and still does but the icemaker has stopped again. I pulled out filter couple of times to see if might have been clogged but no results. Ice maker has always made loud knocking sound but doesn't do that now. If water dispenser is working what could be the problem not making ice?

Hi Andy, Thank you for your question. If your ice maker made a knocking sound but its not now, check the ice maker and the ice maker fill tube assembly to see if there is an ice jam. If these parts are clogged with ice, you should defrost the refrigerator. The knocking noise you heard may have also come from another part inside the refrigerator. If the evaporator fan motor has ice around it, the fan blade will brush up against the ice producing a knocking sound. You will need to remove the ice from the evaporator fan motor. If the water connections are not fitted correctly or are loose behind the refrigerator, a knocking noise may be heard. You will need to inspect the connections to see if they are secure and fitted correctly. If the compressor is the part making the knocking sound, it may be worn and will need to be replaced. If after you have checked all of these things and the ice maker is still not working correctly, you will need to replace it. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!

You can hear the ice cube auger running but the auger won’t turn to dispense the ice. Could it be item number #10 in the diagram
For model number FFHS2311LBPA

Hello Pete, Thank you for the question. If the #10 Drive Bar Part #: PS1991244 is not turning, I suggest removing it to see if the shaft it connects to is turning. If the shaft is not turning then the Motor Part #: PS10057235 will need to be replaced. If the Shaft is turning but the Drive Bar is not, the bar may be stripped and need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

Where is the water filter located and how do you get it out
For model number FFHS2311LBPA
PartSelect logo
Hello and thank you for writing. The vast majority of refrigerators with your model number the filters are located in one of two locations – in the grille at the base of the fridge or in the back upper-right corner of your refrigerator. In either location, you'll see a knob or a button that will easily release the filter for removal. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.

water leaking out of refrigerator
In my specific appliance the water valve is located in the bottom right hand corner looking at it from the back. To get to it I remove the thin layer of cardboard the covers the back of the fridge. I then proceeded to disconnect the 1/4" copper tubing which is the water feed coming out of the wall. Then I removed the screws that hold the valve assembly in place. I took the water valve out and removed the electrical connections as well as the plastic tubing which feed the water dispenser and the ice maker. To install the new water valve it was just a matter of reversing steps.

Support studs were broken
Used pliers to remove the residual broken stud that was still attached to the wall of the refrigerator, and then just pushed the new part in place. The longest time was spent in removing the food and crisper drawers.

icemaker stopped making ice
Even though my wife said that our icemaker broke, there was actually nothing wrong with it. It was the valve that let water flow in during the 'harvest' cycle.
A real easy way to test the icemaker without voltage and current measurements, is to fill the tray by hand with a little cup of water; wait till the water freezes and see if the maker dumped the ice into the bin.
