Crosley Washer Direct Drive Water Pump

PartSelect Number PS11741239
Manufacturer Part Number WP3363394
The direct drive drain pump (Whirlpool Direct Drive Washer Pump, Drain Pump, Washer Drain Pump, Water Pump) removes water from the washer during the drain cycle without the use of a belt. The pump is supposed to drain the water from the washer; if the water isn’t draining or if there is a leak, you may have a problem with your pump. You must replace this part if there is a blockage or clog. Although the symptoms may point to a malfunctioning drain pump, there could actually be a problem with one of the connecting hoses. This pump connected directly to the motor, and comes in white plastic. This replacement part features 1 direct drive water pump with 2 ports for water to pass through: a large one and a smaller one.

Crosley Washer Water-Pump

PartSelect Number PS11738156
Manufacturer Part Number W10876600
This drain pump is specially designed to fit in top load washing machines. It is responsible for removing water from the washer tub during the drain cycle and directing it to the household plumbing system through the drain hose. If you notice longer draining times, grinding or rattling sounds, or standing water in the tub at the end of a cycle, the drain pump is likely faulty. This may be due to several reasons such as normal aging, wiring problems or physical damage. It is also common for the drain pump to become clogged with small items such as coins or buttons.

PartSelect Number PS11757016
Manufacturer Part Number WPW10661045
This genuine OEM drain pump is designed for washing machines. It is responsible for removing the wastewater from the machine during the drain cycle. The drain pump works by creating suction to draw water out of the tub and push it out through the drain hose. Signs of a faulty drain pump include the washer failing to drain water properly, leaving clothes wet at the end of the cycle, or loud, unusual noises during the drain cycle, such as grinding or humming sounds. Additionally, if the drain pump is visibly damaged, or leaking, then it likely needs to be replaced. You can find the drain pump located at the bottom of the washing machine.

drain pump motor had seized as result of foreign objects
After turning off water, disconnecting power, and sucking water out of the tub and drain hose with a shop vac, I removed the front kick panel (took out two sheet metal screws). Then I removed two mounting screws from the pump assembly, and disconnected two hose clamps (inlet and outlet hoses) with a pair of pliers. Very simple, very easy. The pain in the fanny came when I tried to reattach the hoses. The hose clamps apparently require either a special tool or a technique I'm not familiar with. I finally tossed them and purchased two standard screw and band hose clamps which made the final connections a breeze. The surprise came when I found that the motor had seized because of a pair of tweezers that had somehow worked into the motor impeller. Free of tweezers and coins, the new motor works great! This pump helps expel water from the washing machine and is activated after the spin speed is maintained for a specific period of time. If your machine is not draining properly or if it is noisy and shakes during operation, you may need to replace the drain pump. This is a redesigned part. The pump now mounts on to the base of the washer. This product is made of white plastic and has a metal center. Before you can replace the drain pump, you will have to disengage the drive belt under the machine. To reach the drain pump you will need to remove the access panel on the backside of the washing machine.

Pump was making a grinding noise
The pump is located behind a small panel on the back, lower left side of my washer. It's attached to the bottom frame with 3 screws. It has two hoses attached, each with one spring clamp. Lift one side of the washer and slip the drive belt off the pully. Release the spring clamps on the hoses with a pair of pliers and remove the hoses. A small amount of water will drain from the hoses and pump when removed. Remove the three screws holding the pump to the frame and remove the pump. Install the new pump in the same position. Reattach the hoses, replace the belt, and reinstall the cover panel. That's all there is to it. Read more...
