Noise on bottom of Washer louder as time went on. 1 1/2 years
Well, first investigated and found loose nut on drive clutch. First take off the two screws with nut drive then cover off using a screwdriver blade to snap off the cover. Then socket ratchet to take off the nut on drive clutch. take off belt by slowly rotating the drive gear. two screws that hold the electronics to the upper drive clutch and put aside, so you can snap off the cover for drive clutch on upper part with screwdriver and off the parts come and install whole unit back as took it apart. Line up the new upper clutch so that is position as was before. (Using parts diagram helps a lot as www. partsselect.com has for you or Maytag.com.) Then put the electronic part board back on and the gear and nut. Make sure it is tight by several attempts to make sure it's snugged up good and then slowly roll belt back on the pulley and motor drive. Put your cover guard back on with two screws and done. replace broken drive belt
carefully pry up on front washer top to release plastic keeper pins,remove 2 phillips screws from beneath lower front washer panel,slightly lift upward on panel to release.remove old broken belt,push new belt beneath large tub pulley,put belt on small motor pulley,push back belt tension /idler arm,start belt on large tub pulley,turn tub pulley by hand to run belt on,release tension on idler arm.replace front panel and lower top.WALAAH!!!! you are done. Pump was making a grinding noise
The pump is located behind a small panel on the back, lower left side of my washer. It's attached to the bottom frame with 3 screws. It has two hoses attached, each with one spring clamp. Lift one side of the washer and slip the drive belt off the pully. Release the spring clamps on the hoses with a pair of pliers and remove the hoses. A small amount of water will drain from the hoses and pump when removed. Remove the three screws holding the pump to the frame and remove the pump. Install the new pump in the same position. Reattach the hoses, replace the belt, and reinstall the cover panel. That's all there is to it. Read more...

motor burned out, tub quit going around
First I turned off the water and disconnected the hoses. I took off the back panel and unscrewed the 4 bolts holding the motor in place. The grounding screw was impossible to remove, so I had to cut the wire off. Took out motor and disconnected the electrical connector. Put new motor in (ordered new belt, figuring it would need replacing - was still in excellent shape, but replaced it anyway), bolted in the motor (socket set works best on further away bolts, screwdriver for closer ones). Put the belt on the motor first and then pulled it up over the side of the tub and turned the tub to get it around the whole tub - took alittle bit of turning to get it on. Plugged in electrical connector and screwed grounding wire into hole. Replaced back panel and water hoses. Got a bit dirty and sweaty but not too hard to do it yourself, as I am a 48 yr woman and don't usually do this kind of thing. Read more...

Drains but doesn't spin, door lock does not engage.
Door locked light did not come on and did not have 120 VAC across the Wax Motor. Also the Wax Motor did not extend out to make contact with the Door Lock, Spin Enable Switch. General guidance is to replace drive belt and to replace Wax Motor along with the Door Lock, Spin Enable Switches (total of two limit switches). This did not correct the problem. Checked for power and traced loss of power back to the Control Board where resistor R11 was found to be burnt out. Replaced Resistor with new Carbon Film unit, rating of 3.9 K-ohms, 1/4 W and 5%. As a prcaution, replace the Triac (manufactue part number NTE5657), component identified as Q6, rating of 0.8 Amp, 600 VAC. Semiconductor parts must be obtained from somewhere other than Parts Select (unable to find in the small town I live in, I located on the internet at Mouser.com). Unit works great now. Read more...

unusually loud rumbling in spin mode, no spin out
removed outer enclosure to expose inside workings. removed all retaining springs to tub and transmission housing. Inverted tub to access agitator pulley and belt. Removed pulley and cut belt off.(I knew I was replacing it, anyway.)Had to remove large tub bracket to exchange new pulley for old. Disconnect bleach reservoir filler tubing on tub assembly. Disconnect power connector to drive motor. Removed water pump to access drive pulley where new belt belongs. Aligned belt to pulleys and checked idler pulley tension which was acceptable. Replace helix drive lug against spin/agitator and tightened retaining bolt. Assembled components in reverse order and conducted test run. Success. Smooth running machine and saved about $200 on professional labor costs. I had no repair manual but you should have a personal confidence in general repair work. Something like a history of taking things apart and putting them back together successfully. I had an independent appliance repair guy examine the washer and he said it was too complicated for him. Door lock switch faulty preventing washer from spinning
Codes did not point directly to the door lock, so that was a 50/50 between door lock and control board. With top of washer removed door lock is just a couple screws and 3 electrical connections.

Belt was worn and frayed. Belt replacement was tricky because new belt was so tight. Used vice grips to lightly hold belt on pulley while using screwdriver through spokes into tub back to ratchet/control pulley. Not too bad.

Frayed V-belt
VERY EASY!!!
SAFETY FIRST-Always unplug the appliance.
Use 8mm socket to remove front panel screws. Loosened up two hose clamps connected to the pump and removed both lines (Hoses contain water, use a towel) which is located underneath the motor. Disconnect motor electrical connector on the left side of the motor. With socket, remove 4 mounting bracket screws that secure the motor and pump assembly. Pull back the tension/idler pulley to loosen belt off the main pulley to the washer drum. Tilt and pull out motor/pump assembly. Underneath the pump, use star-bit to remove the pump from motor assembly to remove the belt. Install new belt on motor pulley (Good time to check for debris or anything restricing free movement of pump) and re-install pump. Install the motor/pump assembly and loosely secure the motor/pump assembly. Place the belt onto the motor pulley and pull back the tensioner/idler pulley to allow slack of belt to be placed on washer drum pulley. Put the belt on the lip of the drum pulley and rotate while pulling back the tensioner/idler pulley until the belt is seated on the groove of the drum pulley. Tighten the motor/pump assembley. Re-attach the 2 hoses and tighten down the clamps. Re-connect the electrical connector to the motor...Don't forget to plug in the washer and secure the front panel...Piece 'O cake, you're done! About 15 minutes to do the job. Much like changing a belt on most vehicles. Read more...

Washer stopped pumping discharge water
The only real problem was one spring loaded hose clamp to the rear of the pump. If it had been a standard clamp like the others I would have cut the repair time down by 2/3rd's. I did find that by removing one of the long wash drum springs, I then had more room to get my channellocks back there to get the stupid clamp to compress, and then used a screw driver to push the clamp back off the the connecting port. I replaced the camp w/ a standard clamp and the reassembly went quick and easy. Note, If you replace the pump drive belt with a new one, you WILL have to adjust the belt tension after a few minutes use. Read more...
