Burner had one temperature--hot, regardless of setting
1. Killed power and removed the regulator's knob, noted the position of the old control. 2. Took off the cover for the center vent and loosened the two screw holding the housing in place--the screws didn't have to come out completely as it is a U-shaped friction hold. 3. Unscrewed the two screws holding the old control switch in place--lifted the housing enough to get at the old switch and carefully pulled it loose--it was a front burner so the control switch was about as far back as it could be but still wasn't that hard to get at. 4. Turned the new switch to orient the wire connectors, then, using a needle-nose pliers, removed each friction connector, one at a time, and fitted them on the new switch (note: one of the wires fitted best if it went under as opposed to around the base of the new switch). 5. Replaced the control back through the housing and screwed it in place, making sure the orientation of the control matched the way it looked originally. 6. Slide the housing back over the two screws and tightened, replace vent. 7. Replaced the knob and turned on the power.
(The above took me about twice as long to write as it did to make the repair and I write professionally but am not a professional electrician.)
Also, I bought a second control switch because, given the age of the unit, I'm sure another one will go. The second one will assure that it won't happen :-).
My Jenn-Air is an "antique." The filter was disgusting!
I had put up with a filter that got more and more raggedy every year, but I thought my 30 yr. old range/grill top was too old for me to find an replacement filter. What a great service you offer. I found you by web-surfing, typed in the model #, and presto--you sent me the shiny new filter. All I had to do was pop it in and throw away the nasty grill (after washing the scent off to keep the bears out of my Colorado garbage.) Thank you!
Falling apart 20 year old grease filter for downdraft counter rangetop
Cleaned out the downdraft cove, inserted the new filter, and put old filter in garbage can. Laughing. Thanks. Wish you had a FAQ's hotline. I'd like to know if the radiant inserts fit the older coil-type models.
Parts arrived in three days and it was an easy swap of the hinges but the same problem still existed: the oven door wouldn't close completely, so the oven light stayed on and the convection wouldn't work either unless the door closed all the way. The replacement hinge's springs apparently aren't strong enough to close it and the springs aren't adjustable - which is a design flaw. I did correct the problem though, by using three dollars worth of 1" round magnets, which I placed inside the door: they stay put and are strong enough to pull the door tight.
Bought a new house last fall. Jenn-Air range had two element cooktop with two element grill. Oven went out and while service man was here, I asked him to check on the price of another two heater element panel to replace the grill. He subsequently called to say the part I wanted was not available. I immediately got on the internet and did a search. Found it "ships same day" for what I thought was a very reasonable price at PartSelect. Unplugged the grill and plugged in the cooking plate. We now have four usable "burners" instead of two. Thanks PartSelect!
One of my new burners went bad about 6 months later and it was so easy to get a new one sent to me, at no cost even though the price of the burners went up. I received replacement within 2 days. Great service and my salesperson was great!!!!!!
I unscrewed the housing unit, pulled out the 2 connectors and here is the hard part, getting the metal washers off the small posts. First I tried needle nose pliers, then I used a rubber mallet to bang it out from the top side far enough to use a reg. hammer to pull it off from the underside. Finally I got it off enough to break the washers with the needle nose pliers. Putting it back together was a breeze, took all of 5 minutes.
Simple Repair! Turn off Power Remove four screws under panel. Remove old burner knob. Drop Burner Panel from range Remove 5 wire connectors from old burner control with pliers Remove 2 screws that held burner control to range panel Install new burner control Rplace two screws to burner control Replace 5 wire connectors to new burner control Replace 4 screw under panel Replace knob to new burner control Turn on electricity Made wife happy!
I ordered replacement burner cartridge. Pulled out non-functional burner cartridge and installed new cartridge. They are plug in units so no tools were needed and it only took about 15 seconds. Took longer to get cartridge out of shipping container than it did to install it.
New black unit looks different than 15 year old unit but works better and looks better. Black granite appearance is more modern looking.
I should add that the old unit had been in place for approximately 15 years. It didn't come out when I first was trying to remove it to get model number and serial number from it. Once the old rust and corrosion was overcome it removed and reinstalled as easy as any electical plug in a wall outlet.
One oven door hinge spring was broken. I ordered two hinges to complete the repair. The repair could not have been easier. I removed the door from the oven an unscrewed the outer frame of the door from the inner door assembly. I unscrewed the old hinge assembly and replaced them with the two new hinges. I set the door back on the oven and replaced the oven door retaining hardware. After replacing the retaining hardware, I removed the temporary shipping pins that keep the spring assembly static. Very important: don’t remove these hinge pins until the door is on the oven an the oven retaining hardware is secured.
This is fantastic. We've had this Jenn-Air range for some time now, but we only used the two-burner module on one side and the indoor grill on the other. Less than a week before Thanksgiving we decided that the extra two burners would be very useful, so I set out to search the internet for a good deal and the possibility of getting it before needed. Then I found your website and within minutes theunit was on the way and, at the most reasonalable price available. I recieved the unit he next day. All I had to do was plug in the module and it was done. Thanks for making life easy
