Broken Dryer Knob

First let me just say that Partselect.com is now one my stored favorites in my web browser. I came home from a business trip and saw a pair of pliers on the dryer. I thought that was odd until my wife informed me that the knob on the dryer had broken. So she was using the pliers to select the cycle. Somehow she knew where the missing pointer was actually pointing. Since the dryer was over 5 years old I saw this as an opportunity to upgrade both appliances. Not with my frugal wife. Dryer squealed loudly

First, I removed the top panel which is held on at the front by pressure clips. Second, I removed the entire front panel which entailed removing 2 screws and 2 wire couplings. Third, I removed the 3 screws on the inside center of the drum which turned out to be unnecessary. Fourth, I slid the drum forward in order to access the rear bearing. Lastly, I replaced the entire bearing assembly including the shaft, bracket, bearing, grounding ball and clip. The first order arrived in a huge box and there was no scew to be found, the box had wholes in it. I was given a refund and told to order again.

Old panel lid broken and brittle

Removed lid and placed upside down on floor. Pulled plastic retainer clips and removed gasket. Removed old panel. Repositioned new panel and reversed assembly.

Ordered only one spare plastic clip. Too expensive to invest in more. Luckly only broke one of the old clips.
