This lower dishrack roller is less than two inches in diameter. It is made entirely of white plastic. If you find that your dishwasher is making loud noises or the lower rack is getting stuck when you are moving it in or out, it could be that the lower wheel assembly needs to be replaced. The dishrack wheels allow for easy movement of the dishrack in and out of the dishwasher. These rollers tend to wear down at the same speed, so it is recommended to replace both pairs at the same time. Open your dishwasher and remove the bottom rack, locate the locking tab, and rotate until it easily slides out of place. Slide the new wheel over the shaft and locate the locking tab to snap back into place.

Broken latch handle

The hardest thing was figuring out that you only need to purchase the latch handle because it only comes as a complete latch assembly, why they even list the latch assembly as a separate part in the parts list stupid. (you get the handle and latch already put together and it cost less than the latch assembly without the handle). Anyway all you need to do is disconect the power from the dishwasher (unless you like to live dangerously like me) take your drill with the correct size torx bit and remove all the screws on the inside door pannel (the top center two screws actually hold the latch assembly in place). Disconect the 4 wires from the old part and reconect them to the new part and reinstall all the torx screws being careful not to strip the plastic threads that they screw into if you are using a drill. Whole process takes less than 5 minutes. I am surprised that Maytag used such a flimsy handle assembly in their dishwashers since they are supposed to have the repair men with the most time on their hands. They probably sell just as many handle assemblies as they do dishwashers that have this particular part in it, probably more since you will probably have to change it 2 or 3 times during the life of the unit. My dog got into the kitchen by going over the dishwasher (100 lb Lab), and bent the rack tracks and broke one of the track wheels. My family wanted a new dishwasher. Whereas I am cheap.

A simple remove and replace was all it took. Remove the little latches on the end of the tracks, Slide the track out, take the broken wheels off-they snap off. Snap new wheels on rack. Slide new track in threading it through the stationary wheels attached to the wall of the unit, and through the wheels of the rack. Snap the end-caps back on. Good as new. Also replaced a fold away tine that had the plastic worn off it (=rusted). These snap out and new one in very easily. Read more...

wheel axle broke on one of the 4 wheels that supports the top rack

I followed the directions in the dishwasher manual how to remove the top rack of the dishwasher, basically removing the stops on each side, and I set the rack on the counter. I replaced both sides even though one had not yet broken. To replace the part, 5 screws had to be removed; I used an allen wrench. The replacement location of the part was pretty obvious once the screws were removed. The inside of the plastic piece that was opened in the process of removing the defective part was dirty so I took some time to clean that out before attaching the new part. The actual unscrewing and attaching the new part probably took 10 or 15 minutes per side. It took a few tries to get the height adjusting lever to move freely before I tightened the screws.
