This timer assembly is just under six inches long, and is used for some washing machines. Because there are so many different kinds of timers, you should use your model number to make sure this is the right one for your Maytag washer.

Wash Cycle would not complete (would not drain)
PROBLEM: The washing machine would not go through the entire wash cycle. It would stop at the rinse cycle and the tub would not drain.

FIX: So easy, my wife made the repair while I was out of town. (1) Remove the two (of four) inner most Philips head screws to allow the control panel to swing down. (2) Pry off the cover on the cycle select knob with a flat head screw driver to allow removal the clip that holds the dial to the timer. (3) Pull off cycle select knob, cover, and spring, (4) Remove two bolts that hold the time to the control panel. (5) Remove two electrical connections from the timer. (5) Repeat steps in reverse order to install the new timer.

Wash wouldn't advance through its cycles.
It was basically a plug-in. modular job, since the timer unit is all of one piece. Not brain surgery. Read more...

Washing machine would not go thru wash cycles.
Removed 4 screws on face panel. Popped center out of timer dial, removed clip and spring. Took out two hex screws which freed up the timer mechanism. Pulled out two plugs and installed timer in reverse order, replacing plugs, hex screws and timer dial cap. Replaced front cover on washing machine. Took less than 15 minutes. Dealer wanted $139.00 for the part ( I saved $31.00 purchasing the part from you), $79.00 for the service call and $40.00 labor to install the part. I saved $150.00 by doing it myself. The exploded view picture on your website made it a breeze. Very happy with the result and the savings. Read more...

Washer quit cycling through all the wash and rinse steps
First removed two screws holding control panel, once those are out, you remove the center plastic on the selector button, remove the metal retainer and take the button off the outside of the panel ( be careful of the spring behind the button) Next there is two bolts screwed from the front that hold the timer in place, remove these and the timer is removed, unplug the electrical wire plug from timer and you have it . Just reverse the steps and your all done!!! easy repair! Maytag repair man wanted over 100.00 just in labor! I did it in less than 30 minute's and that was just trying to find some tools. No Spinout or regular motor speeds
remove back panel 3 phillips and 2 1/4" machine screws. checked lid switch for proper contact. checked timer on the spin cycle in regular wash mode and tested the contacts that were requested per schematic with washing machine. verrified that the timer was the problem, actually if you take the plasic cover off you can see the contactors and if you look for the one that is bad you can verifiy by looking for burned contacts, rember that everything electrical is testable there should be no guessing.
replaced the timer and tested washing machine in regular and passed, re-assembeled back cover.

Couldn't figure out how to remove the dials
After of hours on the internet looking for answers ( Without any success ) I accidently came upon the solution. There's a small hidden cover plate on the front of the knob that just looks cosmetic. If you slip a knife under it it pops off then the rest is a piece of cake. Maytag had no info on their web site and lots of other inaccurate info is posted on the web. Read more...
