I had two issues - the water dispenser lever was stuttering and the fridge and freezer weren’t cooling properly
The disassembly was not as straightforward as it looked because it required more disassemble than just the damper assembly cover. The entire fridge control panel, the water filter, the air filter and damper cover all needed to be removed. Even after removing them, the control panel cover and the damper control cover needed to be separated. Thankfully the manuals showed that those two pieces do separate with a double grooved pressure fitting. After carefully taking those two pieces apart I was finally able to get to the damper control cables and disconnect them. The quickest part of the repair was the actual swap of the damper control assembly itself. Reassembly was really fussy and took a long time to get everything lined up just so. Once that repair was completed the fridge works again perfectly!! I was afraid I had gone through all that and would still need to replace the fridge, but it’s been a couple of weeks and it’s still great! The other nagging issue was the water dispenser lever had been abused by my kids for 15 years and was giving up. The replacement was also fussy but absolutely easy. The lever still isn’t perfect so I’m guessing I may need the actual solenoid part at some point but it does work better than before replacing it.
Overall, I would do it again and the parts were exact matches and were shipped quickly.

Damper making noise
Followed Youtube video. Remove 6 screws, take housing out, and use finger pressure along with putty knife to remove damper from housing. Take note of where temp sensor lines route so the can be replaced the same. Only thing the video missed was mine had a filter on the ice maker line which required removing an additional housing (1 screw) and disconnecting 2 water lines. You need to squeeze the blue fitting on the water lines down to release the water lines and again to reconnect them after. Refrigerator is extremely quiet now and works great.

Was making a knocking sound
I followed the instructional video that was sent along with and even before I placed an order for the part. I am a older female homeowner, who has to be budget conscious. I first had a repairman look, while he was here I let him know that I was going to look up the cost of the needed item, unfortunately I couldn't justify a $210.00 labor cost for something that took me 15 minutes to install.

No air felt moving when i put my hand over the damper grill. Freezer side still running fine.Anything you recommend checking other then the damper control assembly. flashing 4 on fridge side of control panel and beeping. have unplugged multiple times to reset but still the same symptoms.
For model number FFHS2622MB3

Hello and thank you for writing. a flashing 4 means "damper error". The air damper is found between the freezer and fresh food section and regulates temperature in the fresh food section by opening wide for things that warm up your fresh food section example would be opening the door and letting warm air inside. The damper then closes to keep the right temperature. We suggest to try a hard reset: Go to your breaker box and shut the breakers for your unit off, wait 5 minutes and then turn the breaker to on again. That should hopefully clear this problem. If this does not fix this problem then your temperature sensor PS1765215 might be faulty, you should check the part(s) for signs of damage or test with a multimeter, and replace the part(s) as needed. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.

My Frigidaire quit working, I checked and both fans are running but my compressor was not. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and I could here a noise coming from the damper motor. The noise lasted about a minute and then was quite. I checked and the compressor was running. Two days later the refrigerator was hot again and the compressor was not running but the fans were. What do you suggest I check?

Hi Keith, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the Starter,Part Number: PS1765256 and the Run Capacitor, PartSelect Number: PS2333670 for continuity. If they are not defective you may have a defective control board. Hope this helps!

My fridge began making a whirring/ticking noise. It sounds kind of like a fan out of balance. It is definitely coming from the damper area and there is a vibration in the housing. Would replacing the damper fix this or is there another control problem?
For model number FRS26KF6EMB
PartSelect logo
Hello Mike, Thank you for your inquiry. I would check both the damper and the evaporator fan. Hope this helps!

The repairman that I hired to come out and diagnose my refrigerator said I needed a "damper motor". Is this part what he is referring to? Also, is this a complete part, meaning are there any supplement parts that need to be purchased along with this one to successfully swap out my "damper motor"?
PartSelect logo
Hello Misty, Thanks for your question. Yes, this part is a damper motor. We would recommend checking with your model number to make sure that this is the correct motor for your model, however, and so that we can recommend correct supplemental parts as needed. I hope this helps.

Hi Nelson, Thank you for your question. If the fresh food section of your refrigerator is too cold, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the defrost thermostat, the damper assembly, the temperature sensor and the run capacitor. You will find information on how to test these parts under Free Repair Help and Instant Repairman on our website. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!
